You have to be worthy to buy that car from him

If he's handed anything close to his asking price he won't care. :)

I'm not a big engine snob, but I couldn't drive a kitted 1.6 impreza, there's no excuse at all.

At least it's not a kitted 1.6 impreza, with decals! :D:D

So it's got that going for it. Still aint much though.

I've been thinking its only a matter of time before we saw one of those in here. That is a bargain, wonder if there is a bit more to it than the ad lets on though

Miles are up there, thin on test, but,

    -high lift cams
    -induction kit
    -adjustable front struts
    -drilled and grooved disks
    -uprated brake pads
    -between 140-150 hp
-no expense spared maintaining this car

Also have folder with thousands of euro worth of receipts

    Screams Mondello to me.

Been a long time since I've seen the AR badge on the front grill not faded.
Seems to be a well looked after motor.

I imagine that would be a lot of fun driving everyday.

Would there be much to worry about reliability with it?
Got a 3k insurance quote so I think I'll have to give it a miss :pac:

Fast little yoke and great drive although cramped inside IMO anyway.

Only big issue on that era is rust especially rear arches and under body.

140-150bhp is a bold claim are they not near 100bhp from factory?

104bhp. They are a bit meh anyway imo. Dynamically they are poor despite what the press say.

Well you could always do something like this for a fun track day car.

They're middlen as opposed to poor imo but yes I always found the sigma engine massively overrated unless it was the proper 150bhp 1.7 puma lump.

At that price it's grand value but it's nowhere near 130 bhp never mind 150bhp.

id say that would be rough if you were standing in front of it, but suppose it is a 07 for cheap.

Ha ha, we'll agree to disagree here. I wouldn't like it myself, bit of a Noddy car, but quite cool too :p

Well built, far too expensive when new, and for most of its life, but now bangernomics with the rest of them. Aluminium body and exceptionally good coefficient of drag. Should be very cheap to own and run.

DL reg and suspiciously low mileage combined with a short NCT and the car seems too cheap => eyes very wide open

Insurance crowd apparently don't like that, write-off even at slightest dents. They say, too expensive to fix because of aluminium. :D

I've previously had reasonable insurance quotes on mine, so not sure it carries any real premium. Well, aside from age, which applies to everything. I had my insurance renewal day today, as it turns 15, so this is a subject close to the bone.

The insurance crowd is afraid of having to repair a €800 car? ;)

Even if they were, surely tp+ft is sufficient on a banger*. They are essentially disposable cars.

    * I have fully comp on my banger only because it was the same price as tp

Aye once you have a substantial NCB, fully comp is usually the same or only a pittance more. Well worth it as with most major policies you'd get free driving other cars, free named drivers, free emergency tow away service, etc.

Seems pretty cheap for a 3 series coupe albeit not much NCT left but may be worth a gamble.

Anything in particular to look out for here, with either the car or dealer or otherwise?

  • Registered Users Posts: 65,416 ✭✭✭✭unkel

The dealer comes up here a lot. Nothing untoward I think, they seem have a huge turnover and their prices are about as low as they get for dealer prices. I've no experience with them myself, but I wouldn't expect the car to be in mint condition, needing nothing, for this kinda price :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,152 ✭✭✭26000 Elephants

Some alfa goodness on a Friday night...

€890 gets you a dark 159 with tan leather, climate and teledials. From a dealer, so some comfort. NCT till summers end.

Uncle is giving me his 2002 Nissan Primera 1.6 petrol to sell for him next week. What kind of money should I be expecting to get?

    93k miles
He's the second owner from new (he bought it from a family member)
    NCT 09-17
    Tax 03-17
    Recently got a full service
    New tyres
    Alloys
Spare wheel has never even been used
Very clean all around except the previous owner had a tip with a pillar so there's light damage on the passenger rear above the wheel arch
And then has all the usual bits a Primera usually has

I would guess in or around €700 maybe even less. They don't fetch much.
