Wheelchair accessible doblo. Could make a good van conversion with 1.3 private tax.
Possible camper even, if you're short.

Is the drivers side quarter not all dented in? Looks to be.

  • Registered Users Posts: 73,455 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

    Don't think so, think it's a reflection.

Colm, have a gander at that BMW I posted above. Does it look to you like the passenger side back door is a different shade?

  • Registered Users Posts: 73,455 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

    Yeah. It's miles off

Cheers, I thought so but I'm not great for things like that in photos.

  • Registered Users Posts: 73,455 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

The rear quarter is wrong too. The top of the boot lid behind the lip spoiler looks even worse. I'd say it's rough as fook in the flesh.

Another one for the nope pile then.

Drives me mad reading this thread, all these lovely bangers in Dublin but feck all down where I am in north connaught.

At that price, and if everything else checks out, I'd say its not an issue.

Could be different in the flesh though. :)

Ah I wouldn't worry too much about the paint being off, but if it's had a major whack in the back end and the painting is a mile off it wouldn't give me much faith that the rest of the work was done to a decent standard.

If I needed something ultra reliable, I'd buy this instead of that taxi Avensis:

    '07 Honda Accord, 73k miles, asking €1,600

Tidy, Irish car, only 2 owners from new. NCT 07/17

    ZGQ3ODU3MDMyMjMwMGI3NDkwZDEzOWViZGI5NjMxMzkD45JH_1LvZ6g3Sew7TDHaaHR0cDovL3MzLWV1LXdlc3QtMS5hbWF6b25hd3MuY29tL2RvbmVkZWFsLmllLXBob3Rvcy9waG90b182Nzc5MzA1MXx8fDYwMHg2MDB8fHx8fHx8fA==.jpeg

    Linky

€1,400 cash would probably take it...

Spot on unkel...right on the money...bought it last Tuesday...all good so far...

It's always the same thing with me. I never have time to buy something good as I'm always under pressure to get back on the road again. I should probably think about not driving every car I get into the ground.

In 12 years of driving I've only ever sold my old cars to the scrap yard. I know it's terrible, but I buy bangernomics level cars, keep them as long as possible and by the time I'm getting rid they'll have gone beyond being worth me repairing them and when they're like that I wouldn't be bothered with the hassle of selling private for the sake of €300 when the scrapper will give me €200 with absolutely no come back.

If any of you see anything nice in Sligo/Mayo around the 1k or below please do post it here. Need a decent size saloon, prefer petrol 1.8ish, big enough boot. The 3 series would be a bit small but I love them.

Current car is a 06 c5 that I got about 19/20 months ago for 1k. Lovely car to drive actually but the niggles were adding up and then the clutch went.

Don't let some cosmetic work at the rear end of a car put you off. You'd be very suprised how many cars have accident history.
Once its repaired correctly, at this end of the market you're going ti come across a lotof different color panels .
But, yes of course, the panels and gaps should all line up correctly, no matter what.
Dampness in the boot is another giveaway

I did a lot of research on the Mazda RX8 a few years ago. The engines are sensitive and very very few have seen 120,000 miles!

Make sure to do some research before buying!

Unless you can live with the very real chance the car can be an economic write-off at any point and you can buy it for a 3 figure sum, I wouldn't risk it on a bangernomics budget. If you spend a little bit more you can get one that has recently had a rebuilt engine by one of the reputable independent specialists.
