Basic spec 07 GS300. I'd say he'll take 1500 cash today. Serious car for that money.
There was actually a more basic one than that with cloth seats. We only ever sold one. I quite like the cloth seats in them.

Maybe the wrong place, but seeing the number of older vehicles being posted here, such as
https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/2002-audi-a2-1-4-tdi-nct-01-2018/14616241 how can a vehicle that's over the 15 year old limit that's being increasingly enforced by the insurance companies be worth nearly 2K?

I know it's possible to get insurance still on older vehicles, (we've got one) but that's presumably on the basis of continued use, not change of ownership.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

Link doesn't work, Irish Steve. And there are several companies out there that insure 15 year old cars no bother, even for new business.

You can still get a new policy on many cars older than 15 years. The only thing is that there aren't that many companies insuring them now.

Quirky looks, Audi build quality, made from aluminium, so extremely light. With one of the best coefficients of drag in any mass production car, coupled to a modern turbo diesel. So it is extremely economical - easily average 70mpg. Were too expensive when new, so few sold, so they are rare. Very reasonable performance (because it is so light and aerodynamic). Only a 1.4, so cheap to tax. That car is well within the bangernomics budget and has a full year of test left. Should I go on? :)

Didn't realise they were only a 4 seater though :(

    But... why?

Very economical, very reliable, very well screwed together. A much nicer place to sit for a car in that size category. Quiet, spacious and comfortable to boot. And if you've an interest in engineering or automotive development it's a seriously interesting car.

One for the geeks amongst us.

Hopefully my wasted journey will save someone else's.

First of all, the seller is a gentleman and offered to pick me up from train station.

Bodywork on car is faultless. M3 replica wheels in good condition.

HOWEVER, brakes felt like they they would need replacing soon. Potentially one caliper too. Passenger airbag light on. And engine warning light on.

Overall car just didn't feel right. Had to walk. Shame seller didn't mention engine warning light before I made the trip. Would have saved us both some time.

If it looks to good to be true it generally is. Search continues.

A great pity, that car looked lovely.

Nothing worse when it happens, and it happened to me last week, went all the way to Longford to look at a crock of **** Citroen C1 for a friend.

    Well that sucks.... :(

Leave it a week and offer him 1200 for it. :) In the meantime, find a BMW specialist and price rebuilt calipers up front and an airbag reset. Shame you didn't bring a cheap obd reader to see what the EML is on for.

But then, if it felt wrong, you were probably wise to walk away.

If a blowing exhaust and gammy door lock are the worst of the issues - you couldn't go too far wrong for €300 with NCT to the end of 10/17. Taxed till March too

No rust at all apparently on this nice looking Civic coupe. NCT to 9/17 - €700

    Audi A2.

I've had one a few years. I like a quirky car, and these are both quirky and practical. Tardis levels of room, tuneable great sounding tdi with no DPF, so no DPF problems, light weight means a bit of poke, decent owners forum in the U.K., arguably an attractive design, the nappy arse excluded, as mentioned the geek appeal of being the only other Audi aside from the A8 to come off the all aluminium production line. No rust concerns. So far no dings to test the cost of panel repairs. Mine has been ultra reliable and has been as home on the motorway as city duties. Suspension was not their strong point, but that was upgraded a couple of years back. Very happy with mine.

Sounds like a very honest ad. The fact that the owner put it through the NCT 4 weeks ago and then put 3 months tax on it a few days later is completely consistent with the narrative. And I'd say they would be glad to see it go if you gave them €150 cash :)

Sure but why would you be worried about rust on the A2? Car has just passed the NCT. Maybe you've owned too many Japanese cars :p

I know nothing of this rust you speak of, I never had to weld up my Almera, I swear. :D

They don't rust as badly as the 3dr or 4dr. You'd rarely see rusty arches or a badly rusted underbody on the coupe whereas it's common enough on the other 2 variants.

Aluminum still corrodes, just look at the problem on certain jags and the lotus elise subframe issues.

And the notion that audi's dont rust is just a myth. There is plenty of b6 a4's around the place with holes in the wings to prove this.
