I sold my Skoda with 110 kkm - and the seat did not look really look better than that. It is worth noting that when I got it at 90 kkm, it looked like new.

By your own admission, you're implying you have a wide bottom!

Not pretty - but it'll comfortably get you from A to B easily enough. NCT to 2/18 and tax to 4/17 for €300 ono

    Linky

Lots of E60 and E90 BMWs out there, bargains if you make sure you get a good one.

Would there be much difference in running costs between a bmw e60 2.2 and a merc e200 petrol 1.8 , around the 2005 era ?

Tax would be the main one I'd imagine. Similar weights, 2.2 in the beemer would probably be better at dealing with it so mpg is probably similar. Reliability of the BMW would be ahead I'd say but neither are cheap to repair.

    Accord 2007. 2.2 diesel
    1950
Relatively low miles at 179k km

Am I right in thinking there is no dpf in these ?

I think that one above (523i) is taxed as 2.5 though. Currently drive a e60 520i (2.2 straight six) and I can confirm that fuel consumption is better (although not by far) than that 1.8 Kompressor of the Mercedes. I used to own a C200 estate with the same engine and I remember that engine as under-powered and quite thirsty. Both engines are reliable imo, need to watch out the condition of kompressor, look out for chain rattle, and for oil leak between engine and gearbox (if autobox). For BMW, coolant leakages, those plastic pipes are b1tch. If you buy e60, get yourself a computer with diagnostics too.

Except that the BMW doesn't need repairs :pac:

I'd be wary of the 1.8 Kompressor engine, it's known to have timing chain issues. Though the motor tax saving is nice: €636 for the Mercedes vs €951 for the BMW 2.2l 520i (or €1080 for a 2.5l 523i - BMW is more guilty than any other manufacturer of using confusing model numbers )

The facelift model W211 Mercedes is very reliable, but not yet bangernomics money...

Yes, Gen 7 had no DPF, the Gen 8 has one and they are starting to give problems.
Thats a facelift so a slightly better timing chain setup than the prefacelift Gen 7

Long time no post lads. Here's my own bus. Just taxed it for 3 months for new owner. Been really well looked after in my ownership and I've had absolutely no trouble with it.

Looks very decent, and a reasonable price with the tax. That said, a lot of them for sale and very few buyers. I'd take any 4 figure sum if it was offered to me. Good luck with the sale!

And she's mine. Paint a little worse for wear in two sections. But lovely drive. Actually less than 60k miles on it and it definitely drives like it. Interior spotless and mechanical roof working perfectly. Got a nice discount on the price too. I think today's weather helped!

Thanks! Yes I figure the low xxxx's is what I'll have to accept, there's very little market for these cars.

Already have my eyes on another so the sooner it's out the door to make way :-)

Maybe this one has less oestrogen (cos it's black?), less money (€999), longer NCT (Feb 2018).

Aren't the timing belts on these rated for 200000 km / 10 years?
