    Why is the spec poor?

Everything is relative i suppose. It's the poorest spec you can get for a GS. (Someone told me they've seen one with cloth seats before so I might be wrong)
Compared to a golf It would be packed.
Sport spec is the one to look for. Upgraded suspension, Mark Levinson sound, Sat nav and other bits as standard.

I don't know, maybe it's me but Xenons, heated and cooled leather seats, memory seats, sat nav, elec seats and a host of other features would suggest to me it's a well spec'd car.
Can't see the point of sports suspension on such a barge.

Fair point. But if I know I'll be paying over 1600€ euro tax, I'd prefer to pick out the best from the bunch. Also, GS behaving very poor in corners even with sport suspension so the standard one is pretty bad for a 250bhp car.
I never said it's a bad car. But it is the most basic spec GS. Or I think it is anyway.

Ah yeah not having a go with you, suppose difference of opinion.
I think that's an SE (?) so it would be the mid level trim. Could be wrong though.

03 A Class with high spec, long test and low mileage (and a bit too high on price...)

Hybridomics, 04 Prius, don't think there has been too many of these here.
NCT til Jan 18, be nice to see a pic or two of interior.

How do Prius's (Priuses? Prii? :pac:) hold up over time?

    Prii. Very good.

But as with any other car, if a caveman drives one, they will fall apart. This one is exceptionally cheap, from a small-trader who conveniently forgets to admit it... Eyes wide open...

A friend of mine did about 500,000km in his '01 Prius - and somehow sold it on for decent money recently. That was in Switzerland with a lot of serious hill climbs. He loved it, despite coming from a Lexus (GS300).

The thing that would concern me on the above version is the wheels. Possible warning flag.

    Those wheels

What's up with the wheels? Look standard to me,albeit painted.. they wither bad,not unusual..

+10 on the Prius , fantastic car

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 2,252 ✭✭✭Dia1988

That Prius has suspiciously low mileage for a 2004 car especially when the majority of them had a Taxi sign on the roof at some stage. The rear bumper looks as though it's seen a fair few suit cases over the years too.

Also the seller has another likely taxi for sale, a Skoda Octavia with 235000 miles

Not painted. Prii have magnesium wheels, to keep the weight low. They are very dark.

Toyota did put wheelcups on top of them.

Those are the standard Prius alloys with the plastic cover trims taken off.
Toyota said the covers help aerodynamics.

Yeah, I didn't sell it personally, garage I worked in did.
Lovely seats, gave it a sporty feel IMO.

Looks nice but needs a belt straight away. Bangernomics cars at the top of the budget are better with chains. At the lower end of the budget it makes no difference, drive a belted one and pretend it has a chain and needs no maintenance :p

Exactly, Tipp ex would not reassure me that the timing belt was done!

I would want the invoice and I would ring the number of the garage to confirm and then I'd want to pull the timing belt off the engine to check the condition of the timing belt. One of the above statements isn't true!

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,309 ✭✭✭✭wotzgoingon

Well if the timing belt was done at 99,000 Km then it is due another. 227,000 on it now.

    Chains never break sure.

    Especially pretend ones

My one pet hat is tipp-ex on the engine indicating when a belt was "changed", if there's no documented evidence also backing it up I would treat it the with the same cash value I would a free air freshener thrown in to the deal.
