Or in this case a VW LT FHC

Yeah, the 924 is very much maligned, but I like them. They're nice to drive, cheap to own and easy to maintain. It's also a "true Porsche" in that it's made with a lot of parts from the VW/Audi parts bin, so it's a lot like the 356. And if it wasn't for the 924, Porsche probably wouldn't exist today, or like Ghia or Daimler, it would be a trim level on VW's. We certainly wouldn't have the 911 as it's configured today.

So we should all be grateful for the 924, for keeping Porsche bouncing along with it's arse skidding on the greasy road of liquidation whilst it waited for the 944 to steady things a bit and Wendelin Wiedeking to save the day a decade later.

That 924 is pre-galvanised chassis so care required there. They are also hard to sell and cheap to buy (for what they are).

It's lhd. It's an odd car that isn't desirable. Bar someone wanting to drive around Europe slowly in its probably overpriced.
    That's why it hasn't sold.

For the record, my 156 v6 came from pat and I'd happily buy another Alfa off him.

For the record, I bought a car owned by him and seeing someone attempt to fix worn Anti-Roll bar bushings by hammering nails into them, isn't the type of repair that fills me with confidence.

Each to their own though. :)

Hardwood wedges are much better than nails.

    Not your ornery onager

6 months NCT and 6 months tax on this, Tax alone is worth €200. Asking €750, so in real terms it's yours for less than €500.

Leather seat covers like the taxi's! Those bumpers strike me as being a different shade of green to the rest of the car though.

I bought one 2 years ago for 4k. Converted it to LPG and its cheaper than a diesel. Almost a bulletproof car to be honest. 40k miles per year and, apart from tyres and ball joints (oh and boot lock :D ) its been a gem of a car to run and drive.

Best bargain car there is; in my opinion. 40 mpg when you're cruising at 65 and 30 at 75. On petrol. Closer to 60mpg when run on lpg (63 to 73 cent a litre for me). That tax issue is a red herring. You're talking about €300 more for a quality driving experience. €1 a day, or €1 more for a 140 mile round trip to work in my case. Tax is a red herring if you're buying the equivalent of an A6 for this money. And yes, the quality is that good. A million miles from a standard 407.

406 Coupe. NCT 01/18, €700. Get's you leather, A/C, Electric, heated seats, cruise control and the usual goodies.

And it isn't silver, the dark blue is a nice colour on them.

Trying to value my GFs 04 1.4 Golf Sportline. It's pretty rough though. Couple of dings and marks and from yesterday the passenger door and window won't work. Sometimes there is a squeak when reversing, think it's a bearing going. 139k miles, NCT to next month. Could do with a good service too.

Probably going to scrap but just trying to get as much as possible for it towards another cheap car.

That's class! Nice to see someone driving something different and not the same as everyone else. Best of luck with it! Most on here I'm sure would judge those 407 Coupes as being unreliable. :)
