CVT box is not great in them, car also very thirsty, but if you do low miles that doesn't matter much. Do these engines not have belts? A recent belt change with receipt would be a big bonus alright!

Belts are the older version I believe and then a chain so the seller is on the ball with the claim

Lexus GS300 NCT 02/18, taxed, looks clean, asking just €750. Could offer a cheeky €500

How much is the months tax worth on that?
Just did a check how much they car would cost the average buyer in poland.
Cheapest is approx 4k euro and most expensive is almost 6k!

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

E240, NCT 01/18, comfy mile muncher, asking €800, probably get it for close enough to €500. Not a compressor though although it says so in the ad.

A w210 with a 2.3 petrol lump - probably the least desirable Mercedes saloon ever sold.

    2.6

And it's a V6, so a lot more refined than the smaller 4 cylinder petrol engines. Costs a bit more to tax and fuel sure, but because of people like you it's very cheap to buy ;)

Very nice looking 150 bhp Saab 9-3 1.8t with NCT to 4/18 for €800.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,720 ✭✭✭Hal1

Well now I'm looking at saab's and the aero models in particular. Are they really 210 horsey's from standard? Seen a nice one but it's just over the bangernomics budget, but it's got me intrigued.
    This one: https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/saab-9-3-aero-210bhp/15026550

Yeah, afaik there is the 1.8t (150 bhp), 2.0t (180 bhp) and 2.0T (210 bhp)

    A real SAAB.

I love the styling on these "bath tub" models.

That 9-3 is some find. Can't believe it's been for sale for a month. At that price? He'll take offers too, I'd say he won't say no to €500-€600 depending on the size of your cojones :D

@Hal1 - yes they are 210bhp. A lot of poke for your 2l tax :D

A w210 is a money pit, the worse era of Mercs going. Panic development in the face of Lexus success in the states. Costs and corners cut across the board.

A 16 year old €500 W210 that just passed the NCT a money pit? Nonsense.

Buy it, drive it for a year and sell it on or scrap it. Will cost you not a single cent in maintenance.

Love em or hate em, but this '07 PT Cruiser is good value for a bit over a grand :)

NCT 01/18, low miles, why the hell is it a manual though?

The only thing I know about them is I drove a couple of different ones for a few weeks and I was totally underwhelmed with the drive (I was only coming from a Passat B5). I think the GM Vectra underpinnings got the blame in the motoring world.

They are a nice looking car but have a drive before you buy.

What am I missing - 12 year old car with an NCT expiry date 13 months from now - I thought early testing on a 10 year old car your expiry is 12 months from the date the car passes the test, no?

Got tested 2 months before NCT expires (you can do it up to three months). Gets 12 months worth of NCT from the date of expiry. Month passes - 13 months left.

You can NCT a car up to 3 months in advance, so you get a max of 15 months. I've a car registered on Jan 5th, as there's usually a massive backlog in NCT's in January I get it done around October 5th-15th as you usually have plenty of spaces to choose from.

    Gotta love ireland.
The audi and that merc would be worth far more on the continent bur yet here they cost less than an average monthly wage.
The merc like, it's practically a 400e odd car.

I picked up a 01 reg supercharged CLK a few years back (in real slutty red, I was in love). The original purchase receipt thingy was in the glovebox. Original price: a shade under €39000 (more than €50000 in today's money according to this site). What did I pick it up for? €850.

    Mad.

So €49k or according to your link, about €64k today :)

It might have been £ but that seems a bit high. New C-Class coupés today are less than that.

    E: I'm a dope. € was introduced in 2002. It was £. Holy moly!
