    That's a lovely example.
But there's just that esoteric Citroen mechanicals and electronics to worry about, and I've had 2 Xantias and a C5 in the past...

Primera tested and with 8 months tax for €495!

    How bad could it be?!?!

Think that's a repost. There must be a catch if it hasn't shifted after a week?

The famous one we talked about a few days ago with over €300 worth of tax. Can't understand myself why it hasn't yet sold. Seller is a small time dealer of very low value cars. Just speculating here, but maybe one of those "cash for cars" operators? Maybe the car is in a bad state, with mouldy seats, etc.?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

Well this is it, I mean if the clutch was slipping or it needed a set of tyres in a bad way or whatever, it'd take the good right out of it. A dealer would or at least you would hope would recognise the value of the discs in the window, so maybe there's more to this one.

Someone local should swing by :P

    Toyota Rav4
Nice tidy Lwb mk1 rav4 with tax and test till mid 2016. Very clean little 4x4 for a sub 1k price hard go wrong if your in the market for such a vehicle.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

That's class, nice bit of go in them too, 3S-FE with full time 4WD I think? Mad how they could only get 4 seats in there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,941 ✭✭✭selectamatic

ya they're great little things, only 4 seats in the lwb versions is strange alright although it understandable that there'd be only 4 seats in the swb ones. They've a very good awd system which makes them pretty dam good off road if they have good tyres fitted and the 3sfe is a great engine. The vitara's have a better true 4wd system with selectable 2/4wd and a low box however they're not as comfy on the road. As said though for 900 or less it really is hard find fault with it.

Some people need a decent boot, the swb hardly has any space behind the rear seats. At least with a LWB you could put a dog in the back.

And did you see the tax on it?!

I'd love that as my Santy present to me... 8 months tax? €480 ish? If I got e new (old) motor my dog is priority. :) Insurance is my only worry.

Unless you're with one of the new cowboys like 123, I wouldn't worry about insurance.

Always get a quote before you buy any car though!

Now here's a perfect 100 odd kilometre a day commuter belt car that's perfectly disposable if it breaks. Cheap, safe, relatively reliable and comfortable.

€780 asking price for an '06 car?

Surely that must be some kind of record here

To put it euphemistically: not a great car. Very cheap though and I bet a chap with a name like Ndono Nogoodie will have bought it and be driving it as his taxi before sunlight today...

    6 weeks tax, 6 months NCT. €1400

Seller claims it's been recently serviced by Keary's in Cork so it should be easy to check out. Two new tyres, checking them, their age and brand will give a good idea as to how well it was looked after.

    Worth a look IMO.

Sorry - missed that. I tend not to look at previous pages when I open up a thread in the morning!

It's a bit on the cheap side alright but when you consider it's very nearly ten years old and that they are not a very good or all that popular of a car, then the price it isn't a million miles away from where it should be.

I'd say the 9 year rule has put Ndono out of this car...

Is it something to worry about when it was only taxed for three months back in June and never taxed again since?
I'd raid the piggy bank for that!
Seems the ownership was transferred on the 21st of November, so the current owner has only had it for 3 to 4 weeks.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,079 ✭✭✭✭Duke O Smiley

Whether or not a car does be taxed is irrelevant to me when buying. Don't know why it would cause worry really, some people just don't pay it. Same with the transfer of ownership, means nothing to me but worth noting it means two things; a) someone has bought it, realised there is something seriously wrong with it, and is trying to offload it or b) its being sold by a trader

Anyway, another sub €1k Yaris. Two in as many days, will we see a gradual fall in values?

Timing belt due rather than done at 135k. I'd still have strong doubts of 106k
