Being ranked 78th in the world is 'not good enough' for TCD

I would think that given the austerity over the past few years and the significant lack of funding for third level that having one institution in the top 100 is not that bad, considering the circumstances. TCD dropped from 71 to 78, with UCD dropping from 139 to 154. Ouch.

Well they can't really come out and say its all grand don't worry lads. All optics, like most of these polls for universities and the whole snob aspect that surrounds them.

There are huge flaws in the QS rankings, and with many rankings. Certain courses in TCD may be among the best in the world but others are among the worst in Ireland. Same with DIT, same with UCD, and so on.

This gives some an inflated view of their courses worth, but the majority in industry and the real world know which courses have good standing.

As for the not good enough comment, as said before, they dropped a few places, hardly going to say it's fine.
