I'd just use it to be a cùnt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,800 ✭✭✭Senna

Shouldn't you be asking this on Facebook?

They're not making a dislike button. Zuckerberg said that they never will make one as it'll become too forum like as well as negative. They're making an empathy button for posts and things that look weird that you'd be "liking" them. The Berkeley tragedy being a recent example.

That is exactly what will happen

will likely be used for bullying purposes and pure taking the piss out of people with a nasty, petty slant to it. just scroll past what you don't like, disliking does no one any favours.

    Doubt it will ever happen.
Or at least not in the way people are suggesting it will happen.

what could happen there is certain (if any) cliques may gang up on newer members in certain forums to shout them down through collective downvoting and run them out of the forum by sending out a 'you're not welcome'' message. so it would have downsides.

A dislike button will never happen.

It'd píss off corporate entities when their posts get bombed and lead to lost revenue. $$$ talks.

They're trying to add another sail, to an already slowly sinking ship.

Anyone with shares would be wise to consider selling.

Ever since they've resorted to placing full page colour ads in the 'old' print media,
coupled with patronising terrestrial broadcast ads on the aul box,
all in an effort just to remind folks they still exist.

"My dog got knocked down and killed today. Had him since he was an liccle puppy. Heartbroken :( "

    71 people like this.

    Always seemed a bit weird.

The puppy was a príck to those 71 people in fairness though.

Tbh a dislike button would give another route to bullying people on FB. When boards had a thumbs down button it was misused as a means to diminish peoples opinions without engaging in any discussion or having a clique gang up against someone because it didn't match up to their group think!

thank christ there's none of that sort of thing going on now

At least on facebook you talk with people you know. On boards you just get into arguments with people you don't know.

Because "U ok hun" or "Lyk if u cryed" just takes too much damned effort to type :pac:

An "empathy button". Ought to go well with their "Fifty shades of gender" bollocks

Calling it "bookface" is absolutely embarrassing. Are you 4 years old by any chance?

It wont be used for bullying at all at all.

I am sure that some 13 year old girl posting a pic of her hair or something wont be met with some trolls saying dislike and all that.

Sure, there wont be any fallout from it, and Facebook will keep an eye on it.

Sorry, my sarcasm meter just blew up beside me!!!

"Faeces Book" and "Facepuke" are a bit better, mind you. jimgoose likes these. jimgoose dislikes Facebook per sé and does not use it. jimgoose is, with the best will in the World, ambivalent towards "Bookface".

Or just a special button for dumbasses to press. Keep them entertained.

Only in Cyclists V Motorist threads.

I mean, only in Public sector V Private sector threads.

Which is to say, only in Ghandi V Dalai Lama threads.
