    That wasn't a try.

    Double movement or triple movement???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Good finish but poor enough tackling on the outside after defending quite well around the fringes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,644 ✭✭✭cml387

    No double movement,looked ok.

France go the wrong side and still manage to score.

Between the 4 defenders they should really have stopped him.

    Last pass looked forward too

This is a dreadful game. France will get the TBP, but there won't be much to celebrate about. They've been pretty damn poor.

    It was place- rehold- place

I thought you could'nt get a try if you ground it before the line and then stretch out and ground again?

    Am I confused?

Nah, he fell on it and then reached forward. All legal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

It was dubious. He went to ground with the ball. Then he shifted it forward on the deck, still in the crook of his arm. After that he reached out to get it over the line.

The initial movement on the deck could constitute his placing of the ball (which he's entitled to do but only once as part of the act of scoring) and the reaching out the double movement which is not legal.

    There's the bonus

Knock on ignored by Peyper there. He was looking right at it.

About time one of my fantasy team scored.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,644 ✭✭✭cml387

    And there's the BP.

But I doubt it'll make that much difference in the group.

You're allowed to place the ball once even after hitting the ground. He hit the ground and then placed the ball to score. All legal.

So long as you don't reposition your body and just reach it forward it's good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

I see Fofana has learned to hang onto the ball after it comes down on his own bicep.

You can reposition your body as long as you're not trying to ground the ball. Basically once you hit the ground you have one chance to ground the ball on or beyond the line.

Romania get a turnover and immediately kick it back to the French.

Love Rory Kockott after he celebrated France losing by 20 points and stopped England winning the 6 Nations :D

Well done Romania, Overall they deserved a try at least out of this.

Body position isn't a factor. It's dependent on him reaching out immediately to place the ball. He gets one go at it.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 28,138 Mod ✭✭✭✭Podge_irl

I think it was fairly borderline. I think he "placed" the ball twice so no try but not surprised to see it go either way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,405 ✭✭✭nc6000

Why are they checking this? The player himself knows it wasn't a try.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 991 ✭✭✭Greyian

Did the TMO really need to view that from multiple angles in slow motion to see the knock-on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,568 ✭✭✭Irish_rat

    How bad are France tonight?

    Desperate.

They'll up their game before we face them :(

They won, with their second team basically. It wasn't pretty. It says absolutely nothing about how they'll play against us.

France are always good against us. Doesn't matter how bad they have been playing we always struggle against them.

    Little training ground exercise there.

Hey Fickou you just scored a try. No need to look like your dog got run over.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,244 ✭✭✭rrpc

That in goal area is tiny. Do they really need that much dead area behind it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

    10 handling errors from France.

Romania are physical and dogged, but ultimately they aren't very good. We should be looking to open them up regularly and build a bigger points difference than this French side have done. Lock out the scrum, secure our line-outs and we should be fine.

It's the Olympic Stadium. It wasn't designed with rugby in mind.

Are there regulations for the minimum/maximum size of the in goal area?

The computations are irrelevant. Whoever loses in the France Ireland game will be second. End of.
