Officials being incredibly generous ro England, bit sickening to watch actually, England are going to win this game regardless so is there any real need for the officials to ride Fiji senseless!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,833 ✭✭✭✭ThisRegard

hatchet job by the officials so far.

Nonsense. How can people believe there's a concerted effort against Fiji? Just because they're playing England?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

If Fiji can get within one score England will be very very worried as they know Fiji can score from anywhere.

If Fiji get within a score they're not going to see the ball again.

When I die I want to reincarnated as a 20 stone Fijian goal kicking winger.

How far can it go before a try can't be rescinded?

Panel saying first try was a penalty for Fiji. It's not a conspiracy, it's just ****.

I agree with Clive Woodward!!!! Aargh

Clive woodward is a right pain in hole. When I won the 2003 world cup.... bla bla bla. Guy has done nothing , zero, since.

TMO can be consulted prior to the conversion. Not sure about the laws regarding the awarding and subsequent un-rewarding of a try.

I think once the kicker starts his run up for the conversion the ref can't reverse his call.

Depends on who you listen to. Hook is often on a panel, do you think everything he says his right?

Bad calls are made in every game, but get a grip on yourselves with the conspiracy crap.

It's grand, the TMO can go back now and allow the ref to overturn the first try.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,293 ✭✭✭✭Mint Sauce

It may have not been a try on the evidence of the TMO, but its a disgrace that the ref could be swayed by the big screen. I thought for precisly this reason replays were not allowed on the big screen.

7 people have done it in history. He never needs to.

Haven't been able to see a minute of the game. But that's ok.

I know from this thread that England are totally overrated and fortunate to be in the tournament and Fiji appear to be real contenders for the title. Fair play to them.

To be fair, England do look nervous. That's perfectly understandable though and they are playing well enough. They will be concerned by the scrums though, Marler is struggling.

Fiji are bringing exactly what you'd expect to the party. Big running, big hitting, and general headless chicken like play.

In fairness they can't show any for nearly an hour each half and they are entirely funded by advertising

They always use it. Owens will often use it when making decisions.

No. We've had replays on the big screen for ever.

Refs often make up their minds before the TMO.

It's not a problem. Please calm down.

Owens watches the big screen when he consults the TMO- and usually makes up his own mind! Lol

Well no because hook is a cabbage. I agree bad calls are made every game, but there has been avoidable ones here. My main gripe is with the overuse of the TMO. I'm not saying anything about conspiracy, you started that one

Tell me about it. I found it better to actually go watch them as it turned it a sports event based around drinking. Ice hockey was good craic though, they make a spectacle out of it.

I actually think that game will be worth a watch myself. Unlike most games this weekend it is a hard one to call.

Absolutely agree with you on the TMO. And reading back it was a bunch of others implying a conspiracy, you just happened to be the person quoted so I'll hold my hands up to that.

My issue withe Matawalu non try is that it was the TV producer that had the ultimate power. If he/she hadn't shown the replay the try would have stood. The officials had nothing to do with that. Yes the right call was made but what if the TV producer doesn't show a replay at the other end for whatever reason?

The TMOs are constantly reviewing the video from a whole pile of angles they have, I think he was also asked to go upstairs by England.

All of England's forwards seem poor. If Australia play like they did when they beat NZ this year they will smash England to bits.

TMO is constantly reviewing footage. They see a lot more than us. At least six screens.

Well the assistant referee isn't in on the conspiracy; that was a good spot on the Fiji penalty for a off the ball trip. Shame about the miss, though.

Game turning into exactly what Fiji want.

It just looked to me like Pepyer went upstairs after seeing the big screen as opposed to anything the TMO said to him. Maybe it was unfortunate timing and the message came through from the TMO at the same time as the replay was shown and the crowd made a lot of Oooooooooohing sounds.

Watching the replay after calling the TMO is a little different than calling the TMO based on seeing an incidental replay.

Its so maddening watching the feed into the scrum. Every scrum so far has been extremely crooked.
