    Hi,

When I clicked on "Bargain alerts " or it may have been "Business & Finance" It opened up a new browser window. (PopUnder)

It purports to be a genuine BBC page but the address is

    http://tech.bbc-news.co/IE/LP44722_754118/indexp.html?voluumdata=vid..00000002-8edc-4e88-8000-000000000000__vpid..e0c21800-5dd2-11e5-8277-9ed1442c84b2__caid..a8f1fad0-636c-47a5-8e39-302bc4657290__rt..DJ__lid..cd0831ff-8efd-4683-b83f-005872aafa82__oid1..91caf58a-49f5-4ecf-a833-ed6a646d48e4__var1..n%2Fa__var2..wifi__var3..windows__var4..IE__var5..5330e9240359c149490d3b82__var6..[hour]__rd..__aid..__sid..&match=n/a&carrier=wifi&platform=windows&country=IE&sourceid=5330e9240359c149490d3b82&hour=[hour]&cpc=0.0333

It is offering an IPhone 6 to all Irish citizens for €1. Right click is disabled on the site so can not copy/paste or copy any of the URL''s that would take you to the relevant website where you would register and send the €1.00

If it is too good etc. the genuine URL of the BBC is bbc.com

The registered owner of BBC.CO is
    CENTRAL COMERCIALIZADORA DE INTERNET S.A.S
    Name: BERNY SILBERWASSER
    Organization: BOGOTA BEER COMPANY S.A.
    Address 1: AV KRA 24 #85A-47 (POLO)

Not really the place for this thread but as far as I know, boards doesn't do pop-under or pop-over ads. I'd by scanning my machine for adware if I were you.

I've never encountered pop-under or pop-over ads here either.

It's his machine and this isn't the place to be complaining about pop ups.

Please don't 'fix' my post with inaccuracies, especially when I say "As far as I know".

I can safely say that Boards has never opened a pop-under/over advertising window. Wonder what you clicked on?

Moving this to Feedback for now.

    Hi,

    apologies to Boards.ie .

    Checked my machine, no malware.

Next checked browser history. Find that I mistyped .paypal.com typed a "Q" instead of the 2nd "A" and it was the culprit for the re-direct.

    Again sorry

We don't do pop-up ads at all. As someone else pointed out, it is likely specific to your device and something you should investigate.

ETA: you posted at the same time, glad to hear you found the culprit!
