Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have it on Pedro for now but may change.

    It will be either:

    or Pedro

    Sakho (NOR)
    Payet for me.

No clean sheets for Norwich so far this season. Payet on form and on set pieces.
Too many people will be on Marital so I'm rolling the dice.

    Aguero, Payet or Depay.
Probably not Depay even though I think United could do real damage to Sunderland.

aguero for me. Spurs up against arsenal in the carling cup wednesday night wer because its a derby they will play a stronger team than they usually would and then early kick off on sat morning. Rooney to do the damage for Utd this weekend is my prediction(hope).

That's a good shout actually. I will watch the North London Derby after all where previously I had planned a scouting night off doing non-FPL obsessive things. Extra time and penalties please.

Need to bite the bullet and take away the captaincy from Kun.

Aguero. Simple as that. I have to give him the Spurs game. I'd rather quit the game than not afford him that chance.

If he blanks then I may revise my opinion.

Given his youth and comments LVG made at signing time about easing him in, I don't think Martial is guaranteed a start. I might bring him in but captaining him is too risky. Aguero for me.

I'd like to captain Payet but I don't really trust him with the armband and Norwich aren't that bad defensively. At the moment, Kun(c) Payet(VC) although nowhere near set on it

Aguero or Payet for me. If Benteke/Silva are confirmed out I might look at a punt on a Man U player. Probably won't be Martial though as I'm not 100% he will start. The have Wolfsburg the following midweek which is a 'must not lose' game for Man U so wouldn't be 100% he starts v Sunderland*

    * Personally, I think he will start but I also think LVG can be a headbanger at times with his lineups!

Wouldnt be a huge shock to me if it did happen. They have a very important Cl game against wolfsburg followed by a league game against arsenal.

Impossuble to tell if lvg goes for rotation as they weren't in the cl last year. There is probably a chance 1 of young fellani herrera play against Sunderland.

Martial played 35 games for Monaco last year. I think he'll start in most PL games. European away games is where he could be rested and United could go for Fellaini up front. I'd also be surprised if he starts the Cup game against Ipswich. It's the perfect game to give Wilson a run.

Look at last year's Carling Cup team:

    01 de Gea
    36 Vermijl
    41 James
    28 Anderson
    06 Evans
    38 Keane
    37 Janko (Pereira - 45' )
    26 Kagawa (Januzaj - 20' )
    14 Hernández
    19 Welbeck
    22 Powell (Wilson - 57' )

The Newcastle 0-0 at OT may be too fresh in the memory to go resting the top scorer for Sunderland.

I suppose the League Cup lineup will give some information also. Anyone rested in it is unlikely to be rested again Saturday.

I would be be beside myself with rage if he goes crazy and I've the armband off him
he had a mare Saturday BUT still had 3 great chances

I couldn't believe it when I logged into UFPL and was like wtf he only got 2 points! Can't recall ever seeing so many big chances missed by one player in a week before.

Utd have had 6 shots on target in the last 2 games and have scored with all 6. I'm still not entirely convinced by their attack as I don't feel they create enough chances.

Thats my feeling too. 3 shots on target in two games does not fill me with confidence for Martial.

The early kickoff and loss last week probably helps Aguero get more minutes ahead of next Wednesday's crunch CL match at Monchengladbach. Here are the stats for minutes before CL matches last season:

Arsenal: Subbed after 67' (1 goal)
Hull: Subbed after 72' (1 goal)
Spurs: Full 90' (4 goals, missed pen)
ManU: Subbed after 84' (1 goal)
    Swansea: Full 90' (blank)
Everton: Subbed off through injury after 7' (blank)
Newcastle: Subbed on 60' (1 goal, 1 assist)
    Burnley: Full 90' (blank)

Of course, Palace he was subbed after 25' through injury and blanked

Think I'll be going without captain Kun this week, he's still not as popular as he should be in any of my leagues so even if he gets a nice score I'll still gain from it. Martial is tempting but Pedro against a terrible Newcastle team is hard to ignore!

As i just said in another thread, United got goals against Liverpool and Soton who went more toe to toe with them. They struggled so far in games where teams parked the bus. Possession football is not suited to playing teams with 10 behind the ball.

JOS meant to be fit for Sunderlands League Cup game and he improves their defence a lot.

They were playing with a player up top who isn't a striker in those initial games though. Martial looks the part and may change that.

Whatever about Depay, Mata and Rooney are two good players to have behind any striker.

i honestly think the City game is more likely to be high scoring than the Utd one.

i'll be delighted to have Aguero as captain. Martial will give me fear, but it won't quite be THE fear that Aguero will give others.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,589 ✭✭✭✭Necronomicon

I'm sick of picking Aguero based on fear when he is delivering SFA. I haven't decided on who I'm going for yet but right now it's on Martial.

    :Payet or Mahrez
Both bang in form and both have home games + Both can do real damage in this GW.

60/40 towards Mahrez at the moment

Depay won't stay out of my thoughts despite his failure to turn it on thus far and it not appearing all that logical a choice. You're almost guaranteed at least 2 team goals at home to Sunderland. Martial to me seems an automatic choice if you brought him in but Depay could be dangerous also in a poor week for choices.

Can't warm to Aguero following 4 consecutive GWs without a goal and Tottenham being on a run of clean sheets.

Leicester concede goals so Sanchez is a factor even though I don't think he's been half as dangerous in his games up to now.

Payet and Wilson for me now is never bench never captain and Mahrez has a pretty tricky fixture against a fairly solid defence so I'd rule him out. Benteke also given the question marks around his fitness.

having a major rethink after agueros performance again tonight
    and Sunderlands!
may go mata if I don't sign martial
a lot of "casuals" were laughed at for captaining mahrez at the weekend whilst a lot of us stick with Kun
Maybe it's us that are the casuals picking a lad purely on reputation and ignoring form!

I'm choosing between Payet, Mahrez, Sanchez and Aguero and I'm leaning towards Payet. I feel like Sanchez may be the safe option getting an assist or something, but Payet to either go wild or go blank. Arsenal will likely step up their game as they do so often after terrible results, so I'm not expecting Mahrez to be quite so dangerous against them, and Arsenal should score a few goals against them and Sanchez has to be involved in one of them. Aguero... I think everyone will be fed up with him and he won't get that much arm bands.
