Most Underappreciated Wrestling Themes?

As it says in the title... Which theme songs do you think are underrated? It could be a theme that everybody didn't care about but it really got you over with a wrestler or something like that.

My personal favourites: Mean Street Posse, Viscera (post-Ministry), Steve Austin (the darker, slower theme he used during the Invasion angle), Steve Blackman, Blue Meanie, Maven, Undertaker's Ministry-era theme with the guitar solos and Brian Pillman.

I always loved Vampiro's WCW theme, and Sid's WCW theme from 99/00

On the WWE side, Goldust has always had one of the best themes I think.

Fitted Sid perfectly. Used to love his entrances and doing the fist pump with fans.

I used to love Gangrel and the Brood's entrance. There was something powerfully atmospheric about it, in a similar way to Bray Wyatt's magnificent entrance music today.

Steve Austin's glass shatters by Disturbed, he didnt use it for long, but it was terrific, i taught it fitted the character better then the music he used for years.

Under appreciated is a tough one, for a me a theme to be under appreciated should be one that elevates an otherwise struggling superstar to get over.

I thought Matt Hardy's v1 theme was pretty cool, and actually helped him get over as a singles competitor. If a theme can achieve that then it deserves all the respect it gets.

Swagger's we the people theme was also oddly blood pumping and another case of assisting a superstar greatly.

I liked Christian's from what I can recall of it. I don't know if they're under appreciated as such but I like Sasha's and Becky's currently, the latter really grew on me I didn't like it at first.

I wasn't a big fan of the Disturbed version of Austin's theme, but it suited him as a heel because it's almost impossible not to cheer if they played his original theme.

I've said it before but I was really annoyed when they replaced Big E's theme from NXT. That was one of my favourites.

Further back I thought Test had one of the best themes of the Attitude era.

I liked the theme song they gave to Zach Gowen.

And with regards Taker, I was always a fan of his instrumental biker theme. Most people seem to prefer the 'You're gonna pay' lyrical version but I always preferred it without lyrics.

I loved D'lo' theme, also the tough enough song they gave to Maven.

Christians theme was amazing and really suited him, I loved the gold falling from the top of the titan tron

Owen Hart's theme that he got in the latter part of 1997 was really good. I always enjoyed that. In much the same way as today with Antonio Cesaro, when I heard those sirens I knew there was a good match or segment about to happen and I'd either be left laughing my ass off or in awe of his skill. I don't recall it getting too many major pops when it used to play before he walked out so I'd consider that under-appreciated. Also, I loved Sting's WCW.

think it needed the lyrics, because they summed up Taker's persona at the time, an ass-kicking machine.
personally it was my favorite part of his career.

the TNA knockouts themes from a few years back were great

    Madison Rayne - Killer Queen
Winter - Hands of The Wicked
    Mickie James - Hardcore Country
    Tara - Broken

Has anyone heard Mickie James' album(s) actually? I only ever heard of them, but haven't listened to anything she's released, just assuming that it's ****e. Usually these kind of things don't work out as well as the people who planned them expected them to.

I bloody love Katsuyori Shibata's theme, its suits him so perfectly, and probably doesn't get a huge amount of recognition.

Throw in Kushida's theme too with that awesome back to the future vibe and the home movie that plays at the start. Really good beat to it too.

I used to love Jericho's Basketball Highlights No 9 from WCW (a rip off instrumental of Even Flow by Pearl Jam)

Also, currently both Shinsuke Nakamura and Kazuchika Okada have awesome themes. And of course, Bray Wyatt couldn't have a theme better suited to his character

Speaking about Owen, liked this one when he turned.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,166 ✭✭✭Stereomaniac

I was going to say that one as well but then thought maybe it's too well-known for this discussion!

That Owen Hart one was brilliant. It had such a cool groove to it. I miss that guy so much always.

I gotta give The Godfather's theme a mention, the start of it always made me :D

I always loved the Aces and Eights theme but they were horrible and it probably achieved nothing.

Val Venis was nothing on The Model.

Not sure if this fits the criteria but it was barely used and I'd consider it one of the best if not the best theme ever.

    Run DMC - DX Theme

Syxx's NWO theme from Souled Out, awesome guitar work, sounds better live with the 'New World Order' clips added

  • Registered Users Posts: 677 ✭✭✭Cheese Wagstaff

Seth Rollins' theme is ace. A lot of people don't seem to like it though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,175 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

Adored Deuce and Domino theme, a midcard team from back in the day, not the most talented duo, but twas a fun little gimmick.

    An oldie but a fav,

Agree with previous poster-Goldust's theme still great after 20 years with subtle changes over time.

Heard this mentioned on Jericho's podcast; The Natural Dustin Rhodes WCW. Enjoy it a bit too much now.

    The one Billy Gunn;

Darn, someone already beat me to "The One" Billy Gunn theme. That was the most played track on my iPod for years

    Gail Kim's 1st theme

for years I thought it was sung by Randy Newman.

That's what I thought too. I loved that theme.

Funny how the theme sounds so 'immature' by Randy Orton's standards today, like you look at who he is now and find it hard to believe he used this. It just shows how far he has progressed. He is essentially a legend in his own right nowadays.

I always preferred Burn In My Light as Randy Orton's theme music. It got me way more pumped up for his match than Voices does. Having said that, that song is good in it's own right.

Punk's Killswitch Engage one was great, really stuck out and was just such an onslaught. With the added bonus of it reaching a point of transcendence in his truly awesome entrance at MITB 11.
I was very disappointed that he dropped it for cult of personality (which, despite being a better song and more lyrically appropriate, just hasn't the right elements to be a good entrance theme).

Absolutely. The only reason they really ever used it was because it was synonymous with Punk since his indies days and his attitude ever since the infamous 'pipebomb' incident was a mirror of his days with ROH.

I recently listened back to the part of his interview on Colt Cabana's podcast where he talked about what happened in the office with Vince and HHH on the day he walked from the WWE. Damn, that was brutal.

Have a real soft spot for Corey Graves' theme from NXT.

So many of the above themes are hardly under appreciated ..... But Robbie Conways theme..... who ever saddled him with that theme had it out for him
