Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The last Carlisle one? Cracking spot kick alright.

Genuinely one of the best I've ever seen.

    Pity his teammates' were shíte.

Why the hell did that Carlisle player get a penalty, you could tell he didn't want to take it.

    We got very lucky.

Bogdan should be starting on Saturday after this.

Them players celebrating should be ****ing ashamed of themselves.

The man stopped 3 pens. Of course he should be celebrating.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,046 ✭✭✭Berserker

    Ah jesus :(

Apart from McQueen, Carlisle's penalties were brutal.

Some really poor ones from Liverpool too. As I said, I think that could be curtains for BR. That was extraordinarily poor.

Resign now Rodgers. There's no ****ing coming back from this performance!

How apt a goofy ass penalty for a goofy ass haircut.

Keep this Rodgers lad at Liverpool as long as possible

Ah here. A poor Carling Cup performance shouldn't decide it.

One or two more league struggles and it's curtains

Winning the shootout shouldn't make a difference. If you have to scrape by a league 2 side on penalties with a pretty strong starting XI you're in serious trouble.

I don't know to feel here... relieved? It doesn't feel like a win.. more a let-off

Rodgers needs to go but no doubt this'll save him for another week! :(

Could only listen on the radio but I enjoyed that.
Is he getting sacked in the morning?

Have we not had enough league struggles already?

Failing to get three points against Villa and a loss in the derby, for example?

Nobody will remember or care about the performance in a few weeks/months if Liverpool carry on picking up points and results.

Us winning or losing that shootout means nothing in terms of his job.

Don't pretend he's safer merely because his team won a shootout.

    What a relief for Liverpool.

I remember the celebrations when they beat United in the League Cup final in 2003 and the celebrations like they won the league.

    Great celebrations repeated tonight.

Hoping United draw this Pool team at some stage, no real quality in that side regardless of who is managing

    Yes.

We could have lost 3-0 tonight and he would still be in charge at the weekend.

If they were getting results despite playing badly that'd be fair enough, but 1 point from the last 3 league games is not good results.

Yep - they're definitely not going to get relegated. Should climb the table into the top 10 or top 8 over the course of the season.

Yes. The win is largely meaningless as we actually drew.

If he's going to get sacked, it'd be for the performance before the shootout, not because we did penalties better than Carlisle.
