    Hi

    When I slow down and drop gears approaching a junction, the engine cuts out.

    An owner of the Skoda Octavia has noticed the same thing.

    It's quite dangerous as it has happened at busy junctions.

    Anyone else experience this or know why this happens...

    It doesn't happen as much now. I was used to driving a BMW before and I could drop from gear 4 to 2 while slowing down but with the VW Passat, I have had to change the way I drive.

    I'd say start with the basics change the fuel filter dirty fuel filter can cause all sorts of issues and it's the cheapest fix so I'd start there anyway before looking into more serious causes.
