Very much open to interpretation but personally I kinda think HL3 would be a let down at this stage. So much would be expected of it that it would be impossible to deliver.

Half Life 2 is already a VR game so this writer can stick an Oculus Rift up his bum. What on Earth does wireless bandwidth have to do with it? Terrible article.

Must give that a watch when I get home. Looks interesting.

Also that would be an interesting trick I imagine copious amounts of vaseline would be required.

On mobile now but someone posted a major write-up of all thats known about HL3 currently by a gaming site in the other thread and the conclusion was that Valves shareholders had decided that it would be too toxic and damaging to the brand to ever release it because of the major $$$ they're raking in from their other stuff and the eotional bandwagon/lynch mob atmosphere in modern gaming, Ill link when Im at work. There is a team working on it but its been slashed to 30 people and is in limbo.

I saw it, and I saw the rebuttals. ME3 was the example given for toxic backlash from fans disappointed with a much-hyped game - but you know what? ME3 was wildly profitable anyway.

I don't buy it. There is a difference between saying "Valve have lots of money and so are in no rush to release the next Half Life" and saying "Valve will never release HL3 because they are scared of fans".

Valve already responded to this argument. They said 'fear of backlash' would never stop them releasing a title.

It certainly is, but afaik the last time Valve did an ARG it led to the reveal of Portal 2, so there could be something cool at the end of it.

I thought it clear that I was being tongue in cheek...

Having said that, Valve are no fools - they know this sort of thing will generate huge hype (be it from the press or the gaming public), and it will do so irrespective of any mention of that game. If this all turns out to be for some new hat in TF2, they know they can expect some hate coming their way.

It would be a way to nearly guarantee massive Vive takeup, if they bundled it with the Vive it would blow the pirates out of the water aswell and might make them money.
