Watching ELO since they started on BBC 2 and it seems a bit flat or something..

Jeff ain't festival friendly. That slot has a lot to live up to after Dolly and Lionel!

What I find very odd is that Glastonbury tickets will sell-out no matter what, and in fact the line-up is only released after it has sold out. So while the organisers are clearly and deliberately going with very commercial acts, they don't need to in the way that other festivals do.

Of course they need to go with very commerical acts! It sells out so early based on the fact that people are certain that there will be buckets of main stream artists playing, to cater for many needs.

Sign of the times I think, nothing against some of the main acts but go back 5 or 6 years, perhaps a little more and they'd not have been there.

Jeff came across as a bit of a tool, the personality of a wet fish

Yeah, watched it too and was looking forward to it but like posters here found it lifeless also. Compared to the recent Jeff Lynne's ELO at the BBC, it was dull. Perhaps they're just not a festival band , the atmosphere was quite subdued and Jeff Lynne appeared "disconnected" as did the crowd. Pity, cos they still have the magic, but it didn't show on this occasion imo. I thought perhaps a later time slot might have helped the atmosphere a bit ?
On a related note, the Philip Glass "Heroes" Symphony performed there late last night as a tribute to Bowie was right up there , a fitting remembrance of the StarMan !

I dunno if she was nervous or not but the chatter got a bit tedious after a bit. Asking the crowd if any of them had had a dump was a bit much if you ask me...

Hon Cavan! If she's half as good as Lisa O'Neill, she'll definitely be worth listening to.

I'd rather every young person should experience PJ Harvey, way better songs, about social and political issues, plus shes plays many instruments too :)

ELO and EWF are my favorite bands in the planet of retro music. However, I felt EWF are really bad performing right now. I can't hear them properly??

LCD are so feck in tight as a band....( I use TunnelBear to get a UK IP:p ) but if you have SKY ,,the RED button may work.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

EWF sounds ok to me. Not a fan really, but it looks a fun show. Am enjoying it anyway.

I tried tunnelbear but couldnt get it to work. So signed up for a trial with another one and it's still working away grand even though the trial period has expired

Good point but I think she's developed better as an artist as the years have gone by, she didnt take up the commercial route like so many others have done and you have to respect her for that. I loved her Glastonbury performance almost "vaudeville" in its approach, not a hope in hell would you see Adele doing that type of display..........

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,572 ✭✭✭DominoDub

Well Adele did do her "Alan Carr" stand up show :D

Same here I'm consoling myself by thinking if James Murphy was idle now he'd be watching earth wind and fire aswell.

Seems like everyone else is afraid to mention the 'c' word but I think Coldplay are putting on an enjoyable show. Decent balance between tunes and chat.

I'm enjoying them and that was a lovely touch to sing a song of that band that died in car crash

It also helps that I want Chris martins babies
