Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It was a great header, but it shouldn't have been allowed to happen if we were able to defend.

Our right side was roomier than the boot of a Skoda Superb.

Is there no such thing as an opponent scoring a good goal, is it always ****e defending?

you tend to focus on your own team's performance (or lack of), no disrespect to Villa

Great game tbf. Even though we're rubbish at the back there's a sense of urgency and creativity in the team today.

Did you see the first half, other than the goal we were fairly poor

He's been beaten to the headers a couple of times now. Just when I say that he comes in with a good tackle.

We'd be fine if we could consistently control games at the right time.

Surprised we've not seen Allen thrown on.

Villa bring on a prop forward and their second row does more damage. Nice nod to these at Villa Park today.

Gestede is the type of player who would always do well against this defence though, made of nuisance of himself for Blackburn in the cup last season too.

No subs yet from us? A bit unusual.

We need to get a couple of players around Traore. They are scared of him and putting two or three players around him. We need to then exploit the space that gives

    Lucas is a ****ing machine

I was surprised to see the soldier getting out fought for the header, he is still our main man at the back though. Only saw 2nd half but was encouraged by our play

I wouldn't be too critical that cross was pure perfection and gestede was running for that header, 9 times out of 10 the attacker is always favoured there. Very tough to defend against

The first villa goal though? They are asleep probably dumbstruck that we scored more than 1 goal.

Can't fault Mama for Gestedes header, Gestedes a unit and had momentum running into the cross, the cross was also quality.

Love seeing Coutinho and Sturridge play together, they always seem to be on the same wavelength and Sturridges second shows that. They do link up phenomenally well and hopefully Sturridge will stay fit enough to continue the partnership.

Yeah I take your point on Gestede having the run on Sakho for the header, in that case all the defender can do is make it tough for the attacker by getting underneath his path.

Your pointer about the link-up between Studge and Cout is an even better one. It's as if Cout has a radar on Studge's position on the field. Thinking back to the pre-season friendly with Dortmund where Cout flicked a ball over the top for Studge, knowing he was not going to look a gobsh1te because Studge was going to make that run. Cout needs more players like this around him.
