Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Marcos Rojo misses out for Manchester United with a hamstring injury sustained against Southampton last weekend so Ashley Young could again fill in at left-back, as he did in the midweek Capital One Cup win over Ipswich, with Luke Shaw a long-term absentee.

United are also without Paddy McNair, and Louis van Gaal has already confirmed he will not move Daley Blind from his position in the centre of defence.

Jermain Defoe and Jack Rodwell are injury doubts for Sunderland with respective hamstring and ankle injuries, but Younes Kaboul is available again after serving his suspension in the midweek defeat at Manchester City.

Manchester United have lost only one of their last 26 Premier League encounters with Sunderland (W1 D6 L19).
Manchester United have conceded just two goals in their last five Premier League home games against Sunderland.
Anthony Martial could become the first player to score in each of his first three Premier League appearances for Manchester United.
Sunderland are looking for their 50th Premier League away win but have won just one of their last 14 on the road (D6 L7).
The Black Cats are now on a nine-game winless streak in the Premier League (D4 L5); the longest current run in the competition.
United have scored with all six shots on target in their last two Premier League games (versus Liverpool and Southampton).

Going with a 4-0 win for Man United.

    Going with this line-up.

    de Gea

    Darmian
    Smalling
    Blind
    Young

    Carrick
    Schneiderlin

    Mata
    Rooney
    Memphis

    Martial

SUBS: Romero, Jones, Valencia, Schweinsteiger, Fellaini, Herrera, Pereira.

2-0 with Martial getting both goals.

One with his left foot from the right side of the penalty area in the 20th-25th minute, the other by a bizarre deflection after an absurd mixup between the Sunderland keeper and a fullback. The goat entrails were not clear if it would be the right or left fullback, but definitely a fullback.

United seem to be building, dare I say it, a wee bit of momentum and hopefully they can keep it going with a win here. Sunderland are dire, but I'm not confident enough to predict a battering against them. A win with a decent performance from United, don't care what the score is after that.

Martial 5 goals in 8 minutes or 6 in 9

I wouldn't be getting too hasty here with 3 and 4 nils, against a parked bus there are still plenty of question marks about Van Gaal's philosophy

I hope we can give them a good beating but I don't think that's going to happen

Newcastle was supposed to be an easy 3 points at home too.

If United could play their part in relegating Sunderland I'll be very happy. My dislike for them is strong enough that this feels like a 6 ponter...

A tonking for Sunderland from little sister midweek should mean that they are ripe for the picking.

    Comfortable United win.

Looking forward to this, hoping Martial can keep this run going - superb start to his United career.

    3-0 United imo

Should be routine enough for United

Bloody hope so! Last 3 games I've been at we lost two and drew one....looking forward to what should be a 3-0 win

Should be a comfortable dominating performance. No excuses, Sunderland are wretched

Im afraid to know what sort of bonuses this would unlock :(

    Easy win for Utd.

I won't be confident til that first goal is scored

Should be a comfortable win for us but Sunderland will just park the bus so will probably be hard to break down.

First goal is vital for us to get. Keep the tempo high and keep moving the attack. Then don't give away any stupid chances down the other end.

3-0 win with 2 from martial.

With City getting spanked nothing short of a win is acceptable.

Very poor so far. Given the ball away very easily a number of times

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,632 ✭✭✭✭Sand

Lovely turn by Rooney to create that opportunity.

Rooney and mata passing has been horrendous so far

Go to do better there mata. We have found ourselves in some great positions but final ball has been poor

Mata hasn't been much better than Rooney so far, 30 minutes gone so far and don't think we have forced a decent save yet. Taking too much out of the ball with Memphis, Rooney has been poor too. Trying to be too clever with the final thru ball.
