Main board gone, my second main board went 2 weeks ago on an acer. First was 300 to replace. This time it's going in the bin

Try remove the RAM and then put them in 1 stick at a time to see if its that

Turn it over onto it's other side for a while. Probably all the electrons are gathered on just one side and need to be redistributed.

It could of gone into sleep mode, try holding the power button for a few seconds and releasing it to see if it wakes up.

Hunting on the web, there's a lot of 5742 with boot errors. I couldn't find any solution.is it under warranty? I specialist laptop repair shop might be able to tell you if its just the power socket or the motherboard.

OP hasn't bothered to get back, so I guess it wasn't all that important.
