Why are CI happy to entrust national champs results to volunteers and amateurs?

Totally agree, all clubs need to start somewhere but why give a new club the 100% responsibility for a national championship. There are cork clubs for which this would be bread and butter, why not partner up an experienced club at the very least.

Because they can't be arsed to run them themselves. They dont really do much organizing of races unfortunately

And they have no interest in hill climbing especially . .

Works like a clock on Track.

I have no idea what is involved in running or organising a hill climb but you'd hope the organising club were given some sort of advice and support from CI? Or had people/clubs who'd Run it before to talk to? (I have no idea how road things work) I feel sorry for the competitors and organisers, frustration on both sides I'd say.

Worked perfectly with this year's CX nationals;)

Why should CI use its members subscriptions to employ more people to oversee these events? Clubs should only volunteer if they feel the have the capability and resources to put on a decent event. It's not for CI to vet them. It's for the relevant club to use its own experience as well as the experience of others to enable it to put on an event that's worthy of the title "national championships"

Track events are put in by pretty much the same people every time. They now have extensive experience and can make sure everything runs smoothly (although they have no control over the weather!)

Heard the guy was rang that day and wouldnt come back , error came to light when someone who didn't place originally stood up and informed everyone he had passed out the guy who had been presented with the medal , someone else had passed him as well.

Heard people were also entered in two categories , eg M40s and A4 . We were told when running the Munsters by commisaire that cyclists would only be considered in one category . One fella who entered M40s but got medal in A4

Same with A3 and A2. They shouldnt be giving awards same person on 2 different categories
