Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Something needs doing about the standard of officiating now. It's a farce.

Makes the officials dress up as pigs and then send then to Downing Street

Sterling's running technique is odd, looks like he's carrying a handbag and a skinny latte.

wow an offside goal, lineman woke up.

Kane wasn't offside for his goal as the ball wasn't played to him from the free kick

After the ball hit the bar it's back in play for all players

Good start for the lads. De Bruyne is looking an excellent buy at the moment. If we can hold out for the win here, it would make a massive statement considering we're missing 3 of our main men (Hart, Vinnie and Merlin).

    Showing up the poor squad.

    Risible defending.

That's up to the powers that be to decide. For de Bruyne play was stopped anyway so no issue there, restart with a free. For Dier play carries on until the ref is told that it was offside. If offending team still have ball then free out otherwise play on. I don't think it would affect the flow of the game as much as people fear.

Fair play to Spurs, didn't see this happening!

so you'd want to intervene midplay or intervene to check?

I don't think that's how video refs work in any sport except the nonsense that's going on in the Rugby world cup that everyone's complaining about.

Webb has just explained why he was offside.

The bar doesn't break the phase of play.

City losing really opens up the league. I was worried they would have it more or less won by Xmas they way they played in the first few games.

Well done to Spurs. Horrible defending on our part, and the offside decisions can't mask that. Ah well; onwards and (hopefully) upwards.

Spurs guaranteed to lose their next match.

In de Bruyne's example play was stopped anyway because he scored. Decision would be made them and play restarted. For Dier's goal, if ref got word in his ear that it was offside which was clear before Dier even got the ball then he'd blow for a free out. It wouldn't work very well if he had to stop play if he was unsure and look for a decision then like in rugby.

City could drop to 4th depending on other results.

As Mars Bar says, that's certainly not the case. Bar or goalie, he's still offside. The ball does not have to be played "to him" for him to be offside.

I would love to see stats for win percentage for City with/without Silva over the last few seasons.

Correct. The bar is part of the field of play. If the ball hits the bar (or post), it hasn't gone out of play. Kane was offside when the ball came back to him. Our crappy defending was as much to blame for the defeat as the shambolic officiating though. Caballero in goal, with Otamendi and DeMichelis in front of him; a recipe for disaster.

Not being salty just think it would be typical of spurs to go on to lose to Monaco and Swansea, wouldn't really be a disgrace but I hope they can push on and challenge for top four as I'm a fan of Pochettino.
