    just a sliver left

It looks a bit darker than the one i photographed a few years ago. Could the moon be that much closer to earth that the umbra is bigger and therefore a darker shadow??

Is this the peak now? Want to sleep but don't want to miss anything

    Pretty much.

Doesn't look red through the binoculars, ball of pale orange brick. Still a small sliver of light at the lower edge.

The peak would be in 17mins.

Some nice pics so far..! Can't believe I left the tripod in a place that would mean washing the whole house up! Oh well.. Next time!

That'd be in Dublin. The west is about half an hour behind I think 😕

Not for a lunar eclipse. If it were solar, you might be right.

Can anyone shed some light on why the sky went bright red for a while too? I don't have a decent camera so just got pics on my phone but can clearly see the sky getting redder and then fading back to black.
Is it clouds also reflecting the red colour?

I don't know anything about astronomy so apologies if it's a stupid question!!

I'm not sure what that means? Thanks for the reply though :)

Your camera adapted to the lower ambient light and exposed the shot for longer. If you can adjust the exposure time manually, try it. The longer you leave the shutter open when photographing the sky, the more red tinge you'll get.

I had a quick look online at my phone cameras user tips and it seems it can be done manually so I'll try that. Thanks, that's really interesting!!

Full eclipse but the usual light limitation is a problem when fully eclipsed :) And yes, I forgot to turn automatic focus off

Red is gone. It's kinda back to looking like a regular eclipse now.

    Tried out phones timelapse feature.

    Forgot moon doesn't stand still...
    Fml...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=2&v=G2_HHcgoBfA

Moon escapes captured area in 1-2 seconds.
At that time you can see it changing.

Gonna try again in 18 years.
