Great photos! I was in work so all i could do was nip out every few minutes and look at it. They wouldn't appreciate a telescope and dslr set up in the car park at all!

We went to the Meath Astronomy Club event in Rathbeggan Lakes.

Was a great night, BBQ, chat, live imaging demo and about 20 odd scopes all set up and imaging away.

    Here's a few of mine, taken with a Canon 1000D, through a Skywatcher 12" 300P Flextube Dobsonian.

    Brilliant shots everybody!

I was contented to just watch the eclipse from the balcony of my apartment. It was a sight to behold.

I'd like to echo JupiterKid's sentiments - brilliant shots, everyone. Thanks for posting them.

@BoneDigger - that shot at 4:09 is simply spectacular. Do you mind sharing some info - what gear did you use and what settings? Thanks.

    Thanks liamo!
Yeah, I was delighted with that particular shot myself. The camera I was using was the Nikon D5100, with the Tamron 150-600 mm. zoom lens. I didn't do anything spectacular with the settings, I just set the mode dial to 'Scene' and shot in 'Sunset' mode (ISO 3200; f/6.3; Max. aperture 5.3; Exposure time 0.77 secs.). When I was driving out to the spot where I would take the photos, I realised I'd left the tripod at home, so all the shots were taken with the camera handheld; the Tamron lens is a bit of a beast weight-wise, so it's a miracle I got a decent shot at all!

The moon orbits the earth once every four weeks or so, but by far the biggest reason the moon appears to move across the sky is that the earth is spinning on its axis once a day.
