Business casual

I normally wear business casual clothes to work (dark grey/navy slacks and light blue or white shirts) and I'm finding it hard to find a jacket that I can wear with this outfit.

I'll probably invest in a short overcoat or peacoat for winter but can anyone suggest a lightweight, casual spring/summer/autumn jacket that can be worn with business trousers without looking weird? The most obvious thing would be a blazer but I've tried a few and to be honest they're not really my cup of tea.

I found it very hard to get a smart casual jacket in any of the stores in Dublin.
Ended up getting a nice zipped beige one in lacoste in Kildare village. Its a cotton shell with a good lining. Even down there lacoste was the only shop which had nice ones.

What style of jacket did you go for?

I would have thought conventional semi-tailored, single-breasted for the office, not zipped. And not brass buttons either.

Thanks but as I mentioned in the post I'm not looking for a blazer at all. I just need something light and practical to keep the wind and rain out on the way to work.

Nice jacket but that style looks far better with jeans to my eyes. Don't think it goes with office trousers at all.

You want a short trench coat op. Try debenhams etc. I'd always vote for double breasted but that's my preference. Looks great over office clothes and over jeans and a jumper at the weekend.

Your best option is a mid length mac; it will go well over shirt and trousers, and also over a suit. Can pair with jeans and a jumper / turtleneck at the weekends as well.
