Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

strange stoppage, zapata really looks like he ****ed his hand up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,509 ✭✭✭tinpib

Yep, only half watching it but it looked like Anzai's forearm hair did the damage.

Oh right. It was his finger. Would need to see it again.

Time right now in Tokyo is just after 10am. Is that correct? That must be extremely weird for the fighters. First bout at 9am.

Was talking about this earlier and my friend made the unsubstantiated claim that sumo happens early in the morning in Japan. Feel free to do more research than I have.

A boring fight made tedious with the constant high fives, hugs and roars at the end of round 3.

    Fight, then be friends.

It must be a nightmare for the American/European based fighters on the card. I think we can expect to understandably see a lot of decisions tonight due to same.

Had it 29-28 Hein but I couldn't have argued with the opposite either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,563 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Quick glimpse of the chiselled physique of Nelson there........:)

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,549 ✭✭✭jcd5971

barnett but nelsons right overhand is litterally a mortar cannon firing a nuke packed in a volcano

Barnett for me. I think Nelson has a round to win it (and he easily could if he connects) before he badly gasses. I expect Barnett to succeed in avoiding the right hand, grind him down a bit and finish at the end of round 2/start of round 3.

Such a dick move from Ishihara with that "glove touch" at the start. I'd love to see him get sparked out after that.

Barnett by submission late in the fight, he will keep Nelson on the ground and tire him out then lock in the sub late on for the win.

not sure you wanna get in a ground game with nelson if he gets top thats alot of weight to move

Cracking fight that. Shame Ishihara didn't lose after his little stunt at the start of the fight though.

What way are they going to sort the UFC contract and trophy now?

Dana says it should have gone to a 4th round I see.

Apparently this is the second time it has happened in a tournament final. :pac:

It would be like having a huge slug on top of you! :D

I didnt realise for ages that Nelson is actually a bjj black belt but Barnett tapped out Dean Lister (albeit in a grappling tournament not mma) so overall I see Barnett winning

Wow Diego Brando virtually knocked his opponent out there with one punch, that was quick!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,509 ✭✭✭tinpib

    Brandao has decent English. Cool.

Not really, Brandao has just taken the sport more seriously since the McGregor loss. His weight cutting has been better, same with his training camps and and hes getting the performances as a result. The Diego that McGregor fought is a different one to the one in the cage now.

Trying to keep Nelson on the ground would be suicide, he's a high level BJJ black belt under Renzo Gracie, just because Nelson doesn't go to the ground doesn't mean it's because he can't.

dunno man brandao was doing this before mcg and now doing it after.
have to disagree with you, but in a friendly exchange of views kind of disagree.

He got touched by Greatness and has now improved like Holloway and Poirier! (although don't mention brimage :P)

Im quite aware of Nelsons ground game, but standing in front of Nelson isnt the place you want to be. Barnett has an excellent wrestling game and his best chance is to grind Nelson on the ground and against the cage and tire him out then lock in a sub.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,549 ✭✭✭jcd5971

still dont see how going to ground with nelson is a good decision, if the guy gets on top of barnett good luck breathing with that fat ass on you
