Any deals around on an entry level DSLR such as a 1300D? Amazon have that model at £295 which is the cheapest I’ve found over the last month of searching, but I imagined there’d be something better for the week that’s in it.

Take a look at camera jungle.they have some good deals on camera bodies. It's part of Jessops if memory serves.

Argos UK have a Nikon D3400 DSLR with 18-55mm VR Lens for £449
or the regular lens for £429
Both come with free Nikon DSLR accessory kit.

With code NIKON75 it gives you £75 off, so that makes it £374 for VR lens and kit or £354 for the regular lens and kit.

This i am guessing is only useful to people in the north, or close to it.

    http://www.argos.co.uk/product/7435946

    I have a few question:
    - is this a good price?
    - is this a good camera for a novice/beginner
    - what extra does the VR lens do over the other one

I'm thinking of switching to Fuji so I'm shopping around for bodies, lenses etc. Had a (physical) look at a lens today in Conns, a 50-140mm f2.8 selling for €1600. Later while browsing online shops I came across Pixmania selling it for €543 - now that's a saving. Linky here

While looking at that lens, I spotted another one I have my eye on, the 56mm f1.2 R which sells at €1000 and Pixmania have it for a ridiculous €120 Linky here

However, I'm a firm believer in the mantra "If it looks too good to be true, it probably is" and having read the Trustpilot reviews of Pixmania, I'll be spending my money here.

Both the prices on your links are far higher than you quote. They must have noticed their mistake and changed them.

Hi, if this isn't appropriate, mods please delete.

For anyone using Polaroid Originals film, they have a loyalty program on the website where you get points from purchases but you can also submit a link for others to use. They get a discount and you get more points for a future discount.

    https://eu.polaroidoriginals.com/pages/loyalty-rewards

So, is there anyone who orders who could pair up? I order using your link, you order using mine?

My big problem with buying directly from Polaroid Original is that they charge €18 for shipping! If anyone knows a way to get around that outrageous cost, that'd be fantastic :)

    Has anyone used photospecialist.ie ?

    https://www.photospecialist.ie/sigma-85mm-f1-4-dg-hsm-art-nikon

I want one of these Sigma lenses, and this is a superb price. (It includes VAT, which I can reclaim.)

Lots of chat here about eglobal, but little about Photospecialist.

    Thanks.

Nice. still a lot of cash though. I bought the Canon 85mm f1.8 used for €250 - ok not as good srtill a brilliant lens for 1/4 the price. The Kai review of all three canons showed just how good it is for the money. Just an fyi for those who may be interested. There is one on adverts: https://www.adverts.ie/lenses/canon-ef-85mm-f-1-8-lens-usm/15603004

Interested to hear any feedback about them too. A little more expensive than the likes of eglobal but not by much. Anyone know what kind of delivery time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,685 ✭✭✭✭wonski

They deliver from Holland using tracked Ups standard delivery.

Takes couple of days to arrive depending on the day you place the order. Both my orders were shipped on the day I placed the order.

    Genuine shop with genuine stock.

I'm a photography newb but I'm assuming this is a bargain,

Canon 4524B001 Remote Control RC-06 £2.95 from Amazon

It's an add on item so you'll need something else in your order to buy it.

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 12,778 Mod ✭✭✭✭Zascar

Thanks, great deal - worth getting a few as these are usually €15 or so. Only pain is I think they only work in front of the camera and not behind...

these were on the Currys website this morning but listed as not in stock, but not on the website now. However, I saw the stock listing on their internal computer, and there is one left (of the std 750d, not sure about the kit) in nearly every store (as at about 11am). Most of these will be display models, but you could be lucky and get one brand new in the box.

Canon 750d with 18-55mm and 50mm 1.8 - €370 (There are 3 of the kit listed at the Dublin Airport store, which means one display and 2 bnib.)

    Canon 750d with std 18-55 - €340

Don't know what stock levels are like for this :

    Canon 1300 and 18-55mm - €200

Canon 1300 body only €140 (i think I saw that)

Canon Ixus 185 in Aldi, Sandyford for €90. €199 in Conn’s.

Not an earth-shattering camera, but better than a phone camera.

Bargain of Canon 5d Mark 3 with lens and accessories
    for 2100 on adverts.ie as of 11 November 2018

Not really. The likes of eglobal etc have driven prices of second hand gear down sharply.

To the level that I will never even consider buying new lens any more.

Unless it is brand new gear on Adverts with warranty etc you are talking about.
