There. I have (reluctantly) nailed my colours to the mast. I don't know whether I am undercutting myself or what. I think (or hope) I am being a little reserved given my current form. Will just see how it goes.

Lots of people from the club running tomorrow but I am hoping to be a loner and do my own thing. I don't think I even want to try follow a pacer but there's bound to be some in close proximity at times and I could change my mind. But I will intentionally go out near the back of wave one at 3:50 pace but without the 3:50 pacers who'll be 10 minutes behind in the next wave I think. I have a feeling I might fall off that pace later in the race or I might not. I really don't know. I'll see how I'm feeling at 10 miles and how the wind is and also how a slight blister on my toe is behaving etc. Also, I am doing it a bit differently to last year with a no gels strategy but I do plan on taking some things more approaching real food. Live and learn!

They won't be able to get very close and you'll have to hang around for a while after handing them the layers before the start. Just popped into the centre to get some bin bags to wear to the start line myself and they are well underway with setting up all the fencing around Merion Square so won't be able to get near the start without a number by the morning.

I was wondering why people only discovered their numbers this weekend. That assigning of numbers when you pick it up actually simplified the number collection process a lot and saved on number of volunteers needed at the expo. Good system.

Coming from Ballinteer and want to arrive at the finish line at around 10:30 or so. What's the best way of getting in? Will the Green Line be interrupted by the marathon? I assume the 16 bus won't be running as the marathon crosses terenure.

The Luas isn't interrupted, it takes a bridge over the course in Milltown.
Or if there's a bus that brings you out to Stillorgan, there's a straight run into town, the race takes the UCD flyover and the traffic goes underneath

Yeh just checked Dublin Bus and the 14 is being diverted through Stillorgan. The LUAS website says there will be disruptions on both lines between 8:45 and 10.

Green line is only disrupted at the very end of the line, the race crossing Stephen's green. (although tha will have an effect on outbound trams too)

Red line disruption is more extended, race cuts the line at Blackhall place
