    Hats off to the 3hr pace group for fantastic running today. There were three pacers at the start but over the miles we lost two of the pace balloons. Fair play on fighting into the wind at every turn.

    I had a good run. Got through halfway right on target, 1:29:47 and stayed with the pacers until we crested the climb at mile 22 and then I upped the pace for the last few miles. Wasnt a fan of the long straight run to the finish, seemed to take an eternity and the finish line seemed like a mirage on the horizon! Got home in 2:57:15 so a 2 min 44 pb and a nice negative split :)

    Best news of all was that I didnt vomit all over the finish line like last time so i'm making improvements in two departments:cool:

    Congrats to all...Just wanted to give a quick shout out to the 3:30 pacers. Was running in front of you up till mile 25 when I suddenly began to suffer big time...you lot came through and forever etched in my brain is the pacer with the beard constantly turning around and encouraging me...Thanks man...wouldn't have got there without you...ended up in the medical tent..all was good...just a low sugar count. couple of jellies later and I was good...first time for everything eh! Was put into a wheel chair and pacer high fived me..lol....thanks guys. What a day. 3:28:54. major kudos to everyone

    3:30:20 on the official results for me. Very happy overall. Would love to have seen 3:29:xx but its wasn't in the legs today. I didn't have the strong finish I would have hoped for but I didn't fade too badly either. I guess I can say that a plan that has a 16 mile longest run can definitely work. I'll definitely try the hanson method again at some stage.

    Day of fun and frustration for me. Went out with a plan of 4 and was feeling good with the pacers until 1 knee went at about mile 15. Few miles later and the other decided to follow suit so I was in some kinda weird hobble mode :confused:
    Top of heartbreak hill came and something tweaked causing my right leg to seize every few hundred meters :o Decided there to just chill and enjoy instead of hurting myself and went into cruise control for the last 4 miles or so finally coming in at 4:30:35. Frustrating having juice in the tank and not being able to use it but sh!t happens. Delighted to get another done and hopefully can build from here!

    Went out perfect for my target time, which in the end was a mistake. Passed through 33.5k bang on for 2:54:50 but had to walk/run home from there for a 3:00:56. Delighted with 5min PB and was very satisfied crossing the line. Enjoyable:D

    Suspect a sub-3 would have been very doable for me if I had of been conservative and forgot the target time. Plan C will do :D

    Yes! I didn't feel well the last couple of days so I had almost lost hope of achieving my goal. The weather sucked but the support from the crowed was amazing!

    First off well done to everyone who took part today, I hope you all enjoyed the day (despite of the inclemency of the conditions)!!

    The main reason i wanted to post is to say thanks very much to everyone who offered encouraging words and also to apologise for whinging on the thread (and for adding to anyone elses own concerns in the process). Sorry but my pessimism got the better off me but I really am extremely grateful for the encouragement you offered.

    Managed to just about get my target so I'm delighted (I can assure you I wouldn't have managed that without those words of wisdom so I'm genuinely really grateful).

    Finally, a big thanks to the 4.30 pacers and the two guys who gave me the verbal "kick up the backside" over the last 2 miles. There's no way I'd have gotten my target time without your help too so thanks very much for that. It of course goes without saying but a massive thank you to the spectators too you were fantastic as always!

    Well done again to all involved!

    Another typical DCM, where the legs and spirit were beat so close to the end. The friendly marathon lived up to its name. Thanks to the DCM team for adding my name to my race number. Thank you to the guy who ran over and offered to jog with me to the finish. Thank you to the crowd for all the encouragement. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the beautiful young woman in the wheelchair who rolled along and offered continued words of encouragement 'to just start a slow jog' when I 'd lost heart. The slow jog was for you.

    A tad disappointed but despite that, and the weather, I still enjoyed it overall. It's still a 51 minute and 2 seconds PB for me but that's not saying much.

    I was bang on target for a sub 3:50 or something very close to it right until Roebuck Hill and I just fell asunder and the last 4.2 miles were very very difficult and slow.

    By the way DG...that was me in the blue Saint Laurence O'Tooles top saying hello at the 22 mile sign....I should have said who I was....but I just didn't have the energy!! :D

    I always said I could do 3:10 if it wasn't windy.
    Well, it was windy. In the circumstances I'm very happy with a 30 second negative split and about 2 minute pb.

    The single best thing about today was the crowd. I got tingles at some stages. Amazing that so many people come out in wet and windy conditions to support.

    I began this training cycle with the certainty that it would be my last marathon. I had wild dreams of 2:45, but given the conditions I decided the minimum goal was to set a Dublin PB (sub 2:55:35), hopefully go sub 2:50, and be over the moon if I could beat my Rotterdam time (2:48:35).

    TBB from these parts came up to me around the Zoo, and dragged me round most of the way. Being even skinnier than me, he's not the best man to try to hide from the wind behind, but we got a great little group going and passed a lot of people in the last 10k - including the then 2 leading Irish ladies.

    After running out of sugar just after 23 last year I promised myself this year would be different, and I really enjoyed the run-in to the finish from the time we hit the dual carriageway. TBB had a gap on me at that stage, but he made an excellent rabbit to chase, and I passed everyone he did.

    I'll do some sort of report in a couple of weeks - hopefully I'll still remember it then.
