Someone said there is a 3:45 pacer. But the website only says 3:40 and 3:50. Can anyone confirm?

No 3:45 pacers. It's every 10 minutes from 3-5 hours.

Since we're into the last two weeks, I thought it about time to get the prediction table going. Let the sand-bagging/dick-measuring commence!

Hi folks have enjoyed reading the forum, doing Dublin for the first time. Did Cork as my first marathon in June, ran it in a time of 3.55 was delighted considering I didn't really train properly for it. Decided to step it up for Dublin and joined up with 2 lads as training partners. Training has been going well and my new revised target of 3.29.59 seemed achievable until last Thursday when I woke up with the dreaded flu, spent the whole weekend in bed shivering and generally feeling crap. Decided to go out Tuesday night and assess how bad the body was. Target was to do 1m warm up and 8x400m sprints, off course I could only manage 3. Absolutely devastating to my mental preparation. Starting to feel a bit better today but know my body is nowhere near 100%, can only hope my body recovers and adrenaline will get me through on the day. Best of luck to all.

Once it just regular flu, you'll be fine.
If it's man-flu you're fcuked. You need to forget about the marathon and concentrate on surviving...... :D

i wouldnt panic just yet noel. Sounds like you have the groundworks complete. the 3 weeks before marathon are usually taper for most people as no fitness will be gained from then on in. I was part of a running club a few years back and our coach always told it takes two weeks for the body to feel the benfefit of a good night training . the positive thing is you are on the mend with a week and a half out so your chances of getting ill again are slim. From now on in just try keep thre body ticking over with few training runs. maybe a few runs at marathon pace to build confidence.
    best of luck

Hopefully do ok in the 3:30 group this year. Last year I said I would do Limerick, then do DCM in 3:40, well that went arse ways as imploded like many did.

Built a good base during winter, joined an AC, used a better plan for DCM and ran more miles than I did for Limerick and DCM 2014 combined.

Picked up a bit of strain or injury last week, recovering slowly, so I won't be doing much between now and the 26th.

Easy to say but there's no point worrying about it. It was probably a bad idea to jump into a session straight after illness. For the next week or so just concentrate on ticking over and don't worry about pace. The flu (or any illness) seriously impacts on training so don't push it. All the training doesn't just suddenly disappear so keep the faith!

On a similar note, I find I always get a cold during taper. I tapered for a half last week and you guessed it, I got a cold. So everyone be careful this week and next and look after yourself. Plenty of vitamins and stay away from people coughing etc. (that's public transport ruled out so :)).

Yep, slight tickle in throat, and tiny sniffle here the last couple of days. I work in a hospital, so I'm mad careful about hand washing etc anyway. Dosing myself on Vit C + Zin and Echinacea.

Keep getting phantom pains all over the place too :o

If I can get to within half an hour of the time I did in London this year I'll be happy as I've really done very limited miles since then. I'll have to concentrate to make sure I don't go too fast early on as it will end in a world of pain if I let that happen.

Novice marathoner, based my mp training around the 4 hour mark and generally things have gone pretty well barring the last month when I've had to manage a knee niggle for a week or two but everything is holding steady.
Missed one planned 18 miler on the plan but everything else including the 20mile LSR was completed.
Aiming to go out ahead of the 4:10 pacers and see where it takes me.

Thinking of doing it but would like to know a bit more about what's involved before taking the plunge.

It is organised through clubs, pretty much. If you're stewarding your group will be given a set of intersections to cover between certain times (30 minutes before the leaders to after the tail car basically), or you might be running a water station, or on medal duty, and so on. Volunteers get a marathon jacket and a donation to their club.

(No spots left in our section but I know someone organising another section who might be able to fit you. PM me if interested)

Its man-flu when we have a good woman to look after us. Unattached guys get the normal flu. :D
