My husband brought out the big guns and made a big curry followed by a whole pineapple so I ate both to humour him while bouncing on the ball, bless his optimism. The pair of us are really anxious to meet this lassie now at this stage.

I did a huge chilli. With all the chillies and jalapenos on the side.

Absolutely long and skinny is not a bad thing, my first was the same when she was born so todays drama could have been much ado about nothing really!

If something happens for you tonight you're going to need to send me the chilli recipe! Pineapple hasn't done much so far but give me heartburn

Oh I can't see anything stirring. I'm just getting scared now, if I don't start soon they'll induce on Monday.

Just keep telling yourself things can literally change in an instant, they were telling me this in the hospital again today. There wasn't a peep leading up to my first and all of a sudden it was wham bam, now I have a baby! I'm reminding myself of this constantly, it's hard though I know.

Are you part of the gentlebirth Facebook group or anything? There are some really good induction stories on it, I'm the same, I'd rather avoid induction but there's no harm getting in the mindset and accepting that there's no reason you can't have a positive experience.

I'll have a look now. We did a wise hippo birthing course & loved it. So using that will help too.

Thanks so much girls. After much tooing and froing they have let me home thank god. I am absolutely exhausted. Not too much the wiser but the placenta and fluid are fine which are the main concerns at this stage. Her tummy was fine at the anomaly scan but is now measuring 35 weeks compared to her legs measuring 41 weeks!! I feel she is a long skinny baby.

They were discussing induction but as the the placenta is fine I asked to be left a bit longer so ill be back Friday for a scan again so they were happy to let me go if I am. Sounds mad as now more than ever I want this baby to arrive but I just want to give her a good chance at coming on her own!!

Shivers - delighted your son is so happy with his sister. Dying to see my pair in action too :)

Sorry to but in. I was in the April thread and was measuring small in holles street. I was in every week for fetal assessment and twice a week towards the end. They told me blood flow in placenta and fluid was good throughout but suggested induction. Was against it at 1st but got reAlly concerned come 37 weeks so went for it. She was tiny but mighty. Just got my placenta results and it turns out it was failing. I'm not sure why the scan didn't pick that up. I went with my instinct and I was right so I would say Trust your gut!

Hi Emma, thanks for that and great to hear there's not a bother on your little girl! It's wierd cos this is just a recent thing that's been picked up on. Induction is looming as I'm 8 days over anyway so hopefully she's here safely soon one way or the other!!

LNH I hope your silence is a good thing!

Completely miserable today, swollen, unreal backache and cramps. Unbelievable fed up and over it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 179 ✭✭LNH666

No my silence is nothing exciting. Today was the Botanic Gardens and a cappuccino!! The excitement :-p.

How long will they let you go Digs?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,102 ✭✭✭Digs

Ha! My mam and sister dragged me to avoca for lunch, even the cake couldn't put a smile on my face.

They'll let me go 14 days if all is well, you could even negotiate a day or 2 longer. Depends on how the upcoming scans go. I seriously hope it doesn't come to it. My birth date is the 23rd, my daughter is the 23rd so I'm hoping this baby is just holding out for the 23rd tomorrow too.

Oh wow. If Avoca cake can't cheer you up that's bad!! Very bad. You should have more cake!!

I'm only given 7 days so Sprog has 4 days and the rest of today to make a move -otherwise it's grounded and it's sackcloth and sprouts for the first 5 years of its life!

Ah if you're a family of the 23rd then that's all that's going on. Baby knows the date!! I'm be optimistic for you tomorrow so. I've made a plan for you: labour starts tonight & baby nice and quick -just after midnight. How does that sound?

I actually really liked being induced lol it does hurt more but felt much more controlled than the others once I had epidural. I didn't have epidural on last so maybe it was the epidural that made it nicer lol I hope things move for you before you have to down the induction road but it's def not as bad as I expected. Good luck with everything :-D

Eh ok so that's perfect thank you very much, any chance you could get the msg to my baby?? My husband is terrible with dates so he is more than happy with another 23rd for the three women in his life!

It's mad how the hospitals differ, you're with the rotunda aren't you? They should put this info on their "brochures" :D

Ps I of course brought cake home.

Yeah I need to be reading more of this stuff! My problem genuinely is I was spoiled with a really fast, intervention and med free first labour, any deviation from that this time panics me a little which I suppose is natural but I've no control over it. The end result is the same no matter how I get there! According to a lot of gentlebirth stories there's no reason an induction can't be positive!

My consultants advice yesterday was to come in as soon as I feel anything happening, to make sure it's not during rush hour and if it is to ring the gards and they'll escort us. Apparently it's a common occurrence. You'd want to have seen my husbands face getting paler and paler haha! Murphy's law will intervene and I'll be in labour two days after all my worrying!

  • Registered Users Posts: 179 ✭✭LNH666

Oh wow I didn't know that about the guards! Although the husband only drove for the first time today and he's sore again now. Still considering a taxi but worried about a soilage charge in case my waters broke!

I'm so glad you brought home cake.

I've been diagnosed as gestational diabetic at the start. Never needed any treatment. My sugars have been perfect the whole way through with no major changes in my diet and the original midwife reckoned or was because of morning sickness I failed originally. But once you fail they are VERY STRICT!!!!!!

So they'll only give me a week and then threaten about stillbirth and all the bad things. I work in intensive care as a nurse so I know I can refuse, and the statistics are on my side to leave me go til baby is ready. But I suppose once they start talking about a potential stillbirth it's enough to freak anyone out to agree to interventions. Having a sweep tomorrow if nothing happens so really hoping my cervix is in a good mood.

It's chilli for dinner again here!

Yeah my husband was like, what do I do ring 999 and the consultant said yeah we don't advise having babies in cars so if there's any imminent urgency ring them and either the Gardai or fire brigade come to your rescue, haha, could you imagine! I'd be packing a few towels for the journey in case, mine didn't break until just before she was born last time but every labour is different! The soilage charges in a taxi are no joke alright!

I didn't realise you'd GD! You probably had to fight for the extra 7 days as it is? You'd want to be made of strong strong stuff to not let the stillbirth stuff cloud your thoughts, going over is physcologically tough as it is without that. Will cross everything (except my legs!) it doesn't come to induction for you and baby arrives shortly!

I'm kinda worried about next week when going goes back to work my youngest daughter is acting up a bit not listening to a thing i say and it's upsetting me a bit it's just a matter of getting used to it and finding our feet again xx

Ha it'd be great. The parking at all the hospitals is no joke either. Especially with all the Luas works at the Rotunda! I'll be on black sacks and towels just in case!

Yeah I haven't had any problems with the doctors so far with the GD, they have put the limit of 41 weeks. I thought it'd be 40 weeks myself because of the GD.
I think partly because of my own work, but mostly because I've explained I needed no major changes to my diet I'd be 99.9% healthy anyway. Had a growth scan and all is measuring well too. But I'm still not confident enough to push for another week. I know if anything went wrong I'd always question myself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,102 ✭✭✭Digs

No absolutely I don't blame you. 41 weeks is going to give you a good chance as it is. It is hard going overdue, baby is full term, perfectly formed etc and you just want them safely with you yet some babies just dig their heels in!

Not long and the last few days of torture become a distant memory, Mother Nature is funny. No consolation at the moment though!

  • Registered Users Posts: 179 ✭✭LNH666

I know. But I've already warned husband that next time round we're adding 10-14 days to my due date to avoid the texts and calls!

Definitely be as vague as possible with people!

I'm hoping for one of those Ireland beat Italy by a goal and I went into labour stories that's remembered for years. I have no interest in football but am happy to piggy back. Fingers crossed.
