TV sound but no picture

Hi, had this problem last year but it went away and now just reoccured but worse this time.
TV is turned on, sound comes on but no picture, after a long while approx an hour the picture comes on flickering at first but then perfect. Problem has just gotten worse as there's no sign of the picture coming back.
I done the torch test and there's a picture in the background so any ideas of how to fix it would be great.

Samsung LCD btw if it makes any difference. Is it a repair job or a new TV?

Backlights need replacing. I'm guessing its a CCFL type. There's probably a video online somewhere that will give you a good idea of the work involved.

Sourcing the correct parts will be interesting. - see if you can get an inverter with the lamps, quite often these will need replacing also.

Usually it's the inverter.

Unplugged the telly overnight and it came back, it does flicker a bit though now and again so something is on the way out inside it.
