Just staying up for a few nights.

Not particularly familiar with the city.

What are the good night spots, night clubs etc?
    Where are they located?

Are some more pricey than others?

Oh yeah, and what are the better nights to go?

In term, I guess they have some student nights ATM?

    Day? Music? Age range? etc...

I'll be there from Thursday through Sunday.

Trance music, dance music, a good dance floor.
I'm not into being stood around a pub sipping a pint.

    Range? I don't know....

    This week?

They're not entirely joking when they suggest Copperfaced Jacks. Very central, will admit all comers, has a dancefloor of sorts where drunk people wobble about and drunker people recall it as dancing. Many an unhappy marriage was started there.
As for range (I don't know?)....well, that would be the idea - although try not to get off with anyone older than your gran or younger than 17.

    Oh very good.

    Yes, this week.

Oh, that's what you meant by range.

I guess 20 to 35 would be okay.

Yeah I mean, an old Irish pub playing typical radio songs, is not my scene.
I lived in Amsterdam for the last 4 years, where trance/house music is the norm - I'd be looking for something similar.

I saw a place called "Club M" in temple bar, but not sure their music and crowd.
I understand various places have nights dedicated to a certain type of music, so if I end up somewhere with a rock band or some lame singer, that's certainly not what I'm after.

A poster in another thread also said, "avoid Harcourt street like the plague".
    What's up with that?
avoid harcourt street like the plague, avoid temple bar too, apart from the button factory, occasionally the turks head and maybe the hub.

hangar, the wiley fox, district 8 and fibbers are all decent spots for very different reasons. check facebook to be sure.

I went to a place called "Red Box" years ago as well.
    That was pretty cool.
Is that still open or what?

The Red Box is closed. District 8 on Saturday night have Luke Vibert and Alexander Robotnic, that may be more to your liking.

    That's great.

Where did you find that out?
I've been searching facebook and google but couldn't come across this type of info.

There's also The Opium Rooms, Hangar, The Button Factory. Can't think of any more at the moment.

The Button factory seems to have some good acts for this friday and saturday.

Is that like, a dance venue?

Or more concert with everyone crowded up to a bandstand?

Get yourself to Button Factory on Friday 100%, Mark Knight is quality! First time I'm missing a gig of his in Dublin in about 3 or 4 years and seen him in Ibiza last year! Unreal!

Button Factory is more like a concert venue, but it will be the same with District 8 and Hangar. Anywhere that will be playing good music is generally live dj places.

Opium Rooms would be more a club type venue with good music, Lafayette is what Red Box is now, I've only been a couple of times - good music but not a great crowd.

Workmans on the quays has a good vibe to it according to my brother. Decent indie music played there too apparently -lcd soundsystem, arcade fire, arctic monkeys etc.

I went for a poke around last night.

There was this unbelievable queue of chicks for "Palace" just off Harcourt street.
I wasn't planning on going out but, when I saw that, I tried to get in.
Turns out it was strictly 1st/2nd year students.... what a bummer.

From the sounds of it, Copper face Jacks plays only this cheesy mainstream music, unless there's a separate area downstairs I couldn't hear?

D2 sounded like good music, but it was a total sausage fest, going on who was queuing.

Then I took a quick wander over to temple bar.

    Club M didn't sound great.
The Hanger - I couldn't hear much, but there was a lot of people hanging about outside.

Sin - I think this is where I'm gonna go tonight. Sounded like my kind of music, and definitely a busy spot.

And that was about all I could find., so I caught the 12:30 bus home.

    Can anyone recommend Sin?
