Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi folks,
Are many people having difficulty with their defences?
    I am a tad stuck, I have:
    Bellerin,
    Kolorov,
    Zouma,
    Evans,
    Taggart.

I was thinking of doing a -4 and doing kolorov to kompany and hoping that one of the others get points. Anyone any ideas on one or two trades to strengthen that defence?
I had been planning to go to Colman and Joel ward in a couple of weeks. Should I stick to that plan?

Lukaku, Sturridge or Pelle for Aguero...

Pelle seems the safe option with Sturridge as abit of a gamble with Lukaku somewhere in between

Pelle & Mane seem to be doing very well at the moment, wouldnt mind getting in on that action but I think Sturridge would outscore Pelle if he kept fit.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,022 ✭✭✭✭Iused2likebusts

im starting to lean towards sturridge. I was fearful of him playing wide if ings or benteke were fit but that isnt a worry now. My thinking is that bar aguero there isnt a striker in the league Id expect to score more goals. Of course the major issue is him staying fit.

Ye that probably makes more sense. This aguero to somebody transfer is the most headwrecking and probably most important transfer of the season so far.

Think I'm bottling the decision and going Aguero and Ighalo to 2 of the contenders

Pelle: LEI, liv, BOU, sun, STO
Studge: tot, SOT, che, CPL, mci

Studge would need to be showing some serious form. I might shape towards the Palace game for him unless he's on fire in the meantime.

I'm headwrecking on this all week but happy to have made my moves, and pretty sure the next 2 or 3 transfers I want to make too.

Did someone mention Mitrovic earlier? Interesting... Newcastle have great fixtures, it's just a shame they're sh1t.

    which 2

Pelle is already done. Could go Sturridge but with Bournemouth and Norwich at home in the near future I think it'll be Bony.

That's from the injuries and suspensions thread on the 13th re. Kolarov.
So I think you should stick to your plan.

Costa in and captained. Que another red card.

I understand the forum mantra seems to be form over fixtures but I can't see any other replacement for Aguero than Costa for this weekend.

He has so much to prove to his manager and fans after his start to the season and that alone could be reason to give him a chance but Chelsea are at home to Villa tomorrow. It's an easy choice surely ?

I expect Villa to be well and truly hammered tomorrow and surely Costa will be heavily involved.

One of the easier decisions of the season so far and he will be my captain.

He worries me this week, but I've decided I wouldn't want him the weeks after at his price so I'll have to face it.

There's been enough ripping apart of teams going on this week without bringing in a player I wouldn't want long-term. Chap is a loose cannon and priced prohibitively.

Yes. I'm only interested in him for this weekend. Might choose a striker each week that has a good fixture until Kun is back.

I suppose I'm really picking the striker that is playing at home to Villa but I am happy it's Costa this week as I'm expecting a demolition.

Having already done Aguero to Pelle, I can now afford to go Wanyama to Pedro for a -4, leaving me this front 8:

    Sanchez KdB Pedro Payet Mahrez
    Pelle Martial Vardy

Am I mad? I know I shouldn't be looking to Chelsea players just because of their fixture this weekend, but it's hard not to. Given that he was benched the last time out it would definitely be a punt, thouogh...

Could also afford Mahrez to Hazard (5.0 ITB), but I can't justify the move given their respective form so far.

There's a good chance Pedro gets benched again this week.
Honestly with the form both are in I'd much rather Willian to Pedro (although I wouldn't be taking a hit for him.

Yes I'll need some luck re injuries.

Currently top 100k and taking a -12 this week. Still sitting on my WC but not willing to use it just yet.

You think your wildcard is worth more than 12 points?

Add 12 points to your score and see where you would lie overall - possibly around 20K I'd imagine.

Given that you have to use it by Christmas, I'd use it now unless you've a specific plan for it. Not many situations will require more than 4 transfers unless you really lose the run of yourself.

Thinking of going with a Swansea defender instead of Bertie for a few weeks. He is a small bit cheaper and the too teams fixtures are similar over the next few weeks. Main reason though is to have a bit of lee-way with Southampton players. With Pelle & Mane firing I think 3 may be a bit overkill at the moment. Also, I am a sucker for a player during MNF!

Is Zabaleta back in poll-position to start? Viewing him as a cheaper alternative to Kol.

I know my soccer but I'm fairly new to FPL so my tactics may not be the best.

My thinking is that most people will be taking hits this weekend and with 2 new managers I'd like to see the lay of the land.

Also, there seems to be doubt about some popular players that are currently injured and the extent of their injury.

I basically gambled and did 2 early transfers, for price reasons, and got stung with 1-2 international injuries.

Use it and at worst you will consolidate your position
Find a score 12 points back and you will be suprised just how far back the 12 points takes you!

Reading the responses to my post and now I'm doubting myself. I reckon you guys are better are strategy than myself.

Might draw up a WC team today and think about it. I am carrying some deadwood but I can get 11 players, that I'm happy to play, on the pitch.

Play the wildcard I'd say. Not many 16 point hit necessities arise over the course of the season so at worst you'd be equalling with your next most needy situation.

Play it wisely so you won't need it again for a while!!! Go with players you'll want to keep rather than people who have a good fixture this week.

You'll find yourself making less hits and every hit you don't have to make gives you the same amount of points as a striker goal or a defender clean sheet.

Did Aguero to Pelle in the end. Good form and fixtures, a solid bet for a return.

De Gea or Myhill to start is the problem now

Yes, there's a chance. I think Wenger would be stupid to rotate this early in the league, but he doesn't seem to value my opinion :pac:

Scored twice for France during the week.

I think if Alexis Sanchez is out, Walcott & Giroud will start.

Now Berahino has a knock.. brilliant. I currently have:

Aguero and Gomez out, Berahino, Ayew and Kolarov doubtful, Muniesa who has been dropped, Mahrez who could be at risk and 2-point Westwood.

    Gomes - Guzan

    Kolarov - Cawson - Martin - Gomez - Muniesa

    Sanchez - Payet - Mahrez - Ayew - Westwood

    Pelle - Berahino - Aguero

I have 1 FT and 3.5 ITB. The obvious moves are Aguero to Lukaku/Sturridge/Ighalo/Vardy and Gomez/Muniesa to perhaps Bellerin. I'd also like to work De Bruyne in for Westwood, which would mean a -8.

Took a -8 hiy myself, had to be done.

Muniesa being dropped is scandalous, he'd been doing alright too

Brought in Pelle, Bertrand and KDB for -4. Didn't think too much into it. Hope it works out well.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,094 ✭✭✭SpaceCowb0y

So.. only looking at my team again now after stupidly making two transfers (-4) straight after the last gameweek completely forgetting about the Int break. Onbviously there's been a whole load of injuries but i'm sure no other quite like the Aguero ordeal has affected the masses, question is where to go from here!

Do i make just one more transfer this week for a -8 or at least try bring in some cover (Sanchez) at the cost of a -12? I'm also concerned about not being able to afford Sergio again in the future but with him out till the end of Nov it's irrelevant.

There are multiple other issues with my current team. Joel ward the pox was due back this week originally but now i see that has been put back for another week (24th Oct) anyone know the reason behind this? he was 75% chance of playing last i saw. Also i have Sagna who is probably not going to get another look in bar Zabaleta getting injured. Basically my defence is facked!

Should i just suck it up this week, play Bassong and Wanyama and field a week team or should i sort this mess out somewhat!?

    TLDR team needs surgery... HELP

I'd do Aguero out for a hit and then just hope Sagna plays. If not, Bassong isn't the worst backup. Sanchez could probably wait a week

    I had 2 transfers banked and used a -8

    OUT

    Rooney
    Aguero
    Silva
    Westwood

    IN

    Pelle
    Costa
    De Bruyne
    Walcott

Who to bring in for Aguero then? No chance i'm bringing in Costa he's been useless so far this season. Vardy actually looks like the best option as crazy as that sounds ha. Nice fixtures over the next few weeks but is Mahrez and Vardy overkill?

Yeah, Clichy is not fully match fit, I think he's only played and hour for the reserves, so if they want to give him another week Sagna may well play for Kolarov...

  • Registered Users Posts: 784 ✭✭✭FrClintPower

Ugh, Kolarov out is not good.

As it is I used my FT early to go Martial -> Pelle, so getting in a Sergio replacement is going to cost me -4. Has to be done though. I already have Vardy and Pelle, so I've concluded it comes down to one of Costa, Lukaku, Bony or Sturridge.

Costa - showed last season that he could be a great FF player, but neither he nor Chelsea have been in form. Always liable to do something stupid/get injured/get a suspension too.

Lukaku - has scored recently, a decent run of fixtures coming over the horizon, but has proved himself to be patchy at best.

Bony - *should* be nailed on with Aguero out, but is their only CL registered striker so may be protected a bit. Also issues around transitioning from him to Aguero when he's back fit.

Sturridge - proven goalscorer, if he stays fit could be a monster, and should be nailed on with the injuries to Ings and Benteke, but Liverpool have been poor and have a relatively poor run of fixtures.

Looking at it now, it's coming down to Bony v Sturridge for me, and Bony may be edging it slightly.

Other issues in my team - Kolarov (although I can absorb one drop from him), Muniesa, Nyom, Sanchex and Mahrez. Apart from that though.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,589 ✭✭✭patmac

-8 done as the old reliables are starting to hit form gone Gomez, Pedro and Aguero to Bellerin, Sanchez and ................. Kane (might even captain him!)

Have used my 1 free transfer on Aguero to Pelle.

So I guess what a lot of people will be considering now is, is it worth getting rid of Kolarov? Looks like he'll miss BOU (H) and MANU (a). Will he also miss NOR (H)? I think if I knew for certain that he would miss those 3, I'd get rid of him.

    Next question is who for.
Bellerin - popular player and Arsenal seem defensively sound.
Kompany - is fit again, and looks like a Man City player over the next 6 weeks is a good idea as they have 4 home games in those 6 weeks.
Bertrand - good player, playing for a form team, who has conveniently dropped to 5.3m.
Cheaper option - bank some money by going for a cheaper option. Watford seems decent. Some options at WBA. Sunderland have decent fixtures and a new manager (though have poor form).

The other advantage of Bony is that his low ownership means he has much better potential than, say, Lukaku, to rapidly increase in price if he gets on the scoresheet.

    Any advice please lads?

I've already taken a -4, debating a -8 but to be honest I'm not really sure what way to go. A fresh pair of eyes on my team would be very much appreciated. £0.4m in the bank:

Currently on a -12. Need to replace Kolarov. Is the best option to keep city cover Kompany? Will probably have to wait until next week though as a -16 surely isn't worth it.

    Ighalo will start instead.

A bench of Kolarov, Gosling and Francis is less than ideal. Too many transfers I need to make, but so many point hits :(
