Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just seen on SSN that Batshuayi is now the 2nd most expensive signing in our history

Mad money looking at it that way, but it's probably a fair price in today's market

£35m won't buy you Troy Deeney anymore!

Oscar to Zenit is in the transfer columns, theyve the Hulk money to spend so could be a good deal for us.

Pelle to Chelsea is apparently a runner too, the guys 31 in a few days. (DiMarzio)

Koulibaly (Cb) from Napoli is meant to be a possibility too. (DiMarzio)

Wouldn't be sad to see Oscar go for a decent fee.

Pelle is a good player who Conte seems to like but the transfer would be similar to that of Ba and Remy for me, decent players but not quite good enough for us. I'd rather we didn't sign him.

Koulibaly would be a good signing, I'd rather Bonucci but unfortunately I don't think he'll leave Juve.

I think Pelle is the 3rd/4th choice CF in a 2 man set up.

We'll probably have Costa, Batshuyai, Pelle and Traore with Remy leaving for first team football, wouldnt be surprised to see him going back to Newcastle or going to Palace with Pardew being there, especially if Palace were in for Batshuyai they need a goal scorer and a regular playing Remy will do that.

I'd agree on Oscar, his time for me, is up, hes flattered to deceive for far too long.

Koulibaly ive not seen much of but Bonucci would be the best signing we've made since Costa/Cesc but I cant see it either.

Stones to City for £50m apparently.

    Wow.

Although Everton did put a valuation of what, about 70-75m on Lukaku.

I expected Costa to go back and for us to blow a wedge on a replacement but thats good news if he stays.

Batshuyai takes the #23 jersey that Cuadrado had, so Cuadrado is probably out the door.

That article has Ivanovic and Cahill in the first 11. :o

How Conte wants Chelsea to line-up (4-2-4):

Courtois; Ivanovic, Koulibaly, Cahill, Azpilicueta; Fabregas, Kante; Willian, Costa, Morata /Batshuayi, Hazard

Assuming we get Koulibaly then we still need another 2 defenders. Although replacing Ivanovic would be more urgent.

Fabregas hasn't the defensive ability or legs to be part of a midfield 2

Conte played 442/424 for a time with Juve, if he played it as more of a diamond Fabregas could work at the top of a diamond behind 2 strikers

But I really don't want to see as part of a 2

That side would not finish in the top 4 nowhere near good enough.

Not Happy about that line up (see what I did there?)

4-2-4 or basically 4-4-2 as it would be, with those players would be a disaster.

Especially with Ivan and Cahill starting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

At this moment, I cant see us going for another attacker unless we lose somebody, except Remy as I expect him to go at some stage, so we've to go all in on getting a good back up GK which is meant to be Lopez as everyone expects Begovic to go.

A new CB as Cahill is utter dross, Ivanovic isnt any better and Zouma is injured.

We also need a new CM as Mikel will hopefully leave and losing Ramires and Mikel and quick succesion without a replacement being brought in would be really poor planning from the club, leaving us with Cesc, RLC and Matic as the main operators at CM and thats far too thin on numbers.

Also, given that its being suggested we'll deploy a 4-2-4 we're probably going to negate the use of a #10 so that means Oscar can slig his hook.

Ya, from PSV. Although I'd be surprised if he doesnt end up back in Holland next year on loan or permanent. Maybe Conte will give him a chance though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,603 ✭✭✭grumpymunster

Hope he does give MVG a chance he is an excellent player, happy in many ways he has not been spoken about.

The summer of 1996 wasn't a bad summer of signings. :pac: That season is one of my favourite ever as a Chelsea fan. I was only 7 or 8 but remember the FA Cup run and final so well.

    Vialli - Free
    Di Matteo - £4.9m
    Leboeuf - £2.5m
    Zola - £4.5m (a few months after)

I remember the 98 summer and hating the fact France had won the WC but loving that we had signed Desailly. :o

Considering it was all down to the Spurs players, I'm still bemused we got fined for it.

Good craic though that night making sure Spurs were out of the title race and then finishing 3rd in a 2 horse race, proper bottle job.

Theres something in the water in north London I can only assume.

Apparently we're back in for the Portguesse midfielder Andre Gomes.

Cuadrado and Matic linked with Juventus, hopefully only Cuadrado though Matic should get another chance

Stones to City looks to be gathering pretty good traction. At about 45m which is close to what we offered last year.

Everton should take the money and run and replace him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

City had a £38m bid for Bonucci rejected.

Hmmmm Stones or Bonucci for 45m, I wonder where I'd be spending my money. :D

Although, if we have Cuadrado, Oscar and Matic and Juve want a deal and Conte wants Bonucci, its a no brainer to get it done.
