That new shirt confirms the decision to leave Adidas possibly worse than the famous (infamous) charcol and orange effort many moons ago.

Apparently no press conference until after the game in Austria on Saturday and even then only a brief one. Very low key is our Tony of Lecce

I'd imagine the decision to leave Adidas was more to do with the £££££ rather than their kits, although I'd much prefer to stay with Adidas as I think their kits are miles better than Nike, I couldnt care what the players wear as long as the club is getting as much £££££ possible from the deal.

Also, as we have a more condensed pre-season this time around, I hope we get our business done before the start of the season on 15th August, well, players in anyway, theres always the chance players will leave towards the end of the window. Hopefully Conte has his second signing in by this time next week.

Ah everything done by large clubs is for more money, and part of that of course is brand image. They need to build the brand and the kit is important there and this one is hideous cant see many units shifting.

Regarding transfers Tony of Lecce saw Cahill in the Euro's that should have hurried along purchase of a new CB disappointed that it has not.

I'm not sure that the Koulibaly is the answer, I've seen highlights of him where hes been good and down right horrific in terms of his rashness and being caught out of position, like Luiz but without the footballing ability or mad hair to back it up.

Although I'm more willing to back Conte and the scputing teams judgement of a player over my own and a limited selection of good and bad clips. WE do badly need a CB too until Zouma is fit and Christensen comes back next year hopefully.

This is a very good thing thankfully. :pac:

I'd be shocked if we didnt let REmy go and sign another CF and have Traore as back up/4th choice.

I reckon we'll also go 4-4-2 this year.

I have only one request of Conte, never, ever, no matter how bad the injuries get, play Mikel at CB.

Until we start making some more signings it's hard to know what formation is going to be played

At the moment though we haven't the squad for a 442

You're right, at the moment, I make it that we've enough cover for 442 in the following areas :

    GK - 2, Courtois, Begovic

    FB's - 4 + (2), Ivan, Azp, Kenedy, Rahman - (Aina) (clarke-salter) Cant see the youths playing

CB's - 4 + (2), Cahill, JT, Mizaga, Zouma, (Ivan) (clarke-salter) - Although we need more quality at CB IMO and the youths wont play but pointing them out.

Wingers 6 - Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Pedro, Kenedy, Traore

So I reckon we need more CMs and CFs for 442 and we desperately need more quality at CB and CM.

Now not only are we loaning players to Chelsea EU we are now loaning coaches

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3684634/Chelsea-21-assistant-coach-Andy-Myers-moves-Vitesse-one-year-deal.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490

Is that because Chelsea are not happy with the coaching players are getting there (has been reported in the past) or are we planning for after Brexit and we will move lock stock and barrel to Holland.

I wonder what will happen with Cechs friend and goalkeeping coach that Courtois doesnt like seemingly, Christophe Lollichon now we've got Cudicini on board?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

I cant wait for our first game back now. I wonder is it on Chelsea TV?

Contes not meant to be at Cobham until Wednesday. :o

In other news, Lazio wide man, Felipe Anderson (we're meant to be in for him) as failed to turn up to pre-season training.

Utd ere meant to be in for him last summer too.

yeah i remember talk of this of him to united last summer. I seem to remember united fans thinking he was nailed on to join. can't remember what happened.

If we were to go for him i'd prefer it over giaccherini and candreva who we've been linked with. Candreva fast approaching 30 and giaccherini on the wrong side. someone like Felipe anderson still young and can still get better than he already is.

That said what would people feel about a move for napolis insigne? seemed like a lively player

I think Lazio priced him out of a move from Utd.

It all depends on what Conte wants really. We;ve enough attacking wide players to do the job but could do with an upgrade on Pedro/Willian surely on one side.

CB/CM are our primary weaknesses, can't understand the reason it's taking us so long. Hopefully now that the Euro's are over we get some movement.

Ya, a new long term CB to play with Zouma/Christensen is badly needed.

Costa in the training pics looks in a lot better shape than he did 12 months ago anyway. :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

We're bringing in Gianluca Spinelli, Contes Italian GK coach as well Cudicini, must mean that Lollichon is going out as Jose had his own GK coach last year too that left with him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,603 ✭✭✭grumpymunster

So have we signed Giroud yet?

Have a feeling we will get Kante signed up in the next few days, will be a great signing.

Yes that would be excellent business.

With Costa staying it seems should Kante arrive defence will be the only real cause of urgent concern. I wonder if Kalas is a Conte type player? Could be a decent punt for the season at least and one more high quality CB.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

So have we signed Giroud yet?

How about his look a like as a back up goalkeeper, Benoit Costil?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

I really hope we're not in for Arda Turan of Barca.

Not thrilled with that but Conte must rate him if he wants to keep him longer.

Don't see why not? He was one of our best players last season and if he has another good one this year we could potentially lose him for a cut price next season.

We need to be keeping the consistent players, even if his second half of last season tapered off somewhat he was still probably our most solid performer all season.

Theres no doubt he was our stand out player for the majority of the season but if everyone is performing then hes probably outside the top 5 of those. I like him but if we got a good wedge for him id sell him.

Id still prefer if oscar was sold first though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,791 ✭✭✭SureYWouldntYa

In fairness if we were to sell every player who has underperformed or hadn't been as good previously, the only players left would be Zouma and Dave

Joao Mario to Inter Milam for €50m.

Thats another half decent option gone, price is rather inflated so Inter are welcome to him.

    Conte in for Kante

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,603 ✭✭✭grumpymunster

Yea WAGNH running the Le Parisien story as well, fingers crossed would be an excellent signing

In other news another one of the alledged rats on the way so we will have OT with more Cesc

    http://www.offthepost.info/blog/2016/07/chelseas-cesc-fabregas-linked-with-man-utd-move/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+offthepost%2FTLAa+%28Off+The+Post%29

Should settle in well when they buy Matic, Dave and Hazard as well, shame Cahill is never mentioned though...............

Whens Messi signing? Surely Romans yacht doesnt take that long to get from Cannes to London?

Or is it like Gendry in Game of Thrones and Messi is rowing himself to London, if thats the case he'll be here sometime in the next 4 or 5 years.

According to Rob Dorsett, we're not in for Kante.
