Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Batshuayi is going to be a star.

    He looks a natural goalscorer.

Early days but seems to be a better fit for the team than Lukaku. Certainly in terms of attitude and price-tag.

    3-2.

Team seem to have fallen asleep since half time.

Pat Nevin saying the midfield two of Cesc and Matic getting overrun. Quelle surprise.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,683 ✭✭✭LightningBlue

    Hazard on for Pedro,
Terry on for an injured Aina
    Oscar on for RLC.

On a separate note, Roma heading out of the CL in the final qualifying round. Time for a bid for Manolas...

Almost a Batman hattrick. Stupid offside flag.

Is there any highlights on TV tonight?

Apparently Mangala is headed from city to Napoli on loan, read in to that what you will

Remy seems to be heading out on loan to Palace with an option to buy.

Looks like Solanke may be third choice striker given he was on the bench tonight.

We haven't entered into The League Cup this early (Round 2) since 1996

    This was the team....

    Kevin Hitchcock
    Steve Clarke
    David Lee
    Michael Duberry
    Dan Petrescu
    Craig Burley
    Roberto Di Matteo
    Jody Morris
    Dennis Wise
    Mark Hughes
    John Spencer

Beat Blackpool at Bloomfield Road 4-1 and lost at The Bridge 1-3 in the home leg.

Lost to Bolton (2-1) in Round 3

That Bolton match was that the one Matthew Harding lost his life returning home from awful night for Chelsea that.

Christ! Didn't realise it was that night.

I was working nights then, and used to get out of the scratcher for the BBC 1 O'Clock News. It was then I heard about poor Matthew Harding.

It'll be 20 years on 22 October  Feels like yesterday!

According to the Telegraph this morning, we've tabled a £47m bid for Marquinhos. It's getting silly now

Don't know much about him. It would seem hes the third choice after the lad from napoli and the milan Cb.

If its true is he any good?

He's behind Tiago Silva and Sideshow in the PSG line up, but at 22 he's a very very good prospect

So we were celebrating when we offloaded Sideshow to PSG for a whopping £50 million. Now we going to give them back most of that money for a "prospect" - hmmmm.

    The Eduardo signing is official.

There are also rumours that we are in for Inter midfielder Brozovic for €25-30mn

Bamford off to Burnley for a season - can't see that going well

Not sure PSG would sell Marquinhos. They've been nurturing him for some time now. I suppose if Chelsea were to promise him more 1St team football it would be a possibility.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,603 ✭✭✭grumpymunster

Its not like PSG need the money, but then our transfer policy is bereft of logic so we may as well throw in a sneaky bid to City for Stones :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Whoever we sign we are going to overpay for at this stage. Has Mangala gone on loan to Napoli?

It's hard to see much coherence sometimes but that goes for many clubs (mine probably more than most). But as supporters we're never fully aware of the whole story and all the conjecture on Twitter etc just makes it even harder to work out what's actually happening.

I see bamford's gone to Burnley. Last chance saloon for him to salvage a career at chelsea methinks. Really needs a huge season. the kind of season where the english media hype him out and start saying should be called up to the national team for him to be considered for a spot in the first team squad next year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,259 ✭✭✭HalloweenJack

Wouldn't say it's his last chance but definitely needs to make a better fist of it than last season. He came across as a bit of a prima donna when he left Palace.

Yes but when you have effectively buggered up the transfer window for two seasons on the trot regarding defensive replacements questions need to be asked. Why were Kalas, Christensen, Baba and Ake allowed out on loan without replacements already signed. Arsenal may be a bit light in defence but we are desperate currently we head in to a PL campaign with 5 fit defenders that is pretty pathetic and someone should be held to account. When Zouma is back that will be 6 defenders even allowing for no European football that is simply not enough even if it were 6 good defenders but Cahill and Ivan form 1/3 of our defence that is depressing.

Last year that helped get Jose the sack will Conte receive a similar fete this year? I really would not be surprised at all.

Antonio Conte on Chelsea transfers: "I must be honest. I think that we will have a problem to reach our target."

Some ask to go through to January with the defenders we have ..... form is suspect at best, throw in an injury and suspension god knows where we'll be.

Linked with Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina for LB now, can't say I've ever heard of him. Papy Mark II?

Played for Bolton a while back. Think he was on loan at Sunderland too.

Since it's Di Marzio it must be reliable

Hopefully he's come on in the past 2 years in Italy

Need a world class defender, there's none available ok we'll take a chance on the one with a bit of English football experience.

Panic buying at best...heads will have to roll at board level for this fiasco.

It might not be the signing we want but it should improve us regardless, and even half competent full back is better than Ivan. Gives coverage at both fullback spots too. And with a bit of experience in the prem should be no excuse not to play him.
