Yup, agree with that and I think he's pushed on a good bit at PSG too, cut a lot (certainly not all) of his shananigans out.

The problem with the Luiz deal is we should probably have never left him go but for £50m, he was never going to go for any more money.

Whats even funnier is we never properly replaced Luiz and to do so 2 years later we've decided to go out and buy Luiz back.

This club, when it makes mistakes in the market like it has, looks like a right bunch of mugs.

But seriously I'm absolutely over the moon that he's back, for all his shortcomings I loved him for us and hated seeing him play for PSG.

Would have preferred a better defender than Luiz but this late in the window it's about as good a centre half we could have hoped for.

Will sideshow start within the next 2 games. It's nice having the option to change center backs without taking Ivan from the right.
Can also change to more attacking formation with 3 CH and two wing back and maybe fab on the middle.
Oh to see a different formation from the last 4 plus years be great.

Great to hear it's Luiz pushing for the move, shows his commitment to the club. I doubt he's getting a huge pay rise so it must be genuine passion. Now how long till we get little Juan back and undo Joses bad transfer business......haha

Am I the only one who isn't very excited by Luiz?

He is not a world-class defender. I know there aren't too many of them available, but he's not even in the "next-best" category. Might have been better off waiting til December, even though I know most top clubs don't do a lot of business in December.

It feels distinctly like a desperation signing. But I'm prepared to be wrong, and well whoever said Conte can improve his game, I hope you are right.

Jaysus Newcastle have had a great transfer window in cleaning out players that didnt want to be at the club and get seriously top dollar for them in the process.

Not the worst window for us at all. Some decent competitors brought in who will at least be horses for courses. It should be enough for UCL qualification. And we still have January to fine tune at leisure. By the end of the season, more desired targets will see Conte means business, and we can jog on any misfits.

Yea I would be slightly more confident now that we can get a top 4 place, might be a few decent players knocking around in January from teams knocked out of the CL.

The window was for me once again a shambles, as weak as p*** in defence and leave it till the last minute to fix pure stupidity and incompetence.

Witsels deal fell through with Juventus at the absolute last minute yesterday, Zenit acting the bo**ocks.

Witsel is meant to be furious, given hes a free in the summer, I'd imagine there'll be quite a few clubs looking to sign him to a pre-contract agreement in January, we could do worse than bringing him in for next year.
