Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Sunday could see, barring an injury, Diego Costa line up against Man Utd for the first time since joining us, hes been either injured or suspended every time we've played Utd so far.

For once, I'll be hoping he does well!

Its impossible to tell what Chelsea will show up but our only joys recently have come away from home.

I'm going to say another home loss.

    Sound partner....FFS.

Apple bought them for what, 2 billion, a small bit of that would be nice. :o

I also echo the sentiments of the sound, its pretty dire considering what price bracket theyre in.

I'm not a fan either but if we wanna keep pace with United who have merchandised everything from toilet seats to credit cards we have to play the game.

City get around it by essentially sponsoring themselves.

New stadiums don't come cheap after all!

Oscar's agent confirmed that a Chinese side made a huge bid for him. He sounded like he had little interest in it though so even if Chelsea were inclined to accept, Oscar can't be forced to move himself and his family to China and is probably smart enough to realise that it would be detrimental to his development.

I think Texeira will be at a European side within a year, he's probably making over 200k a week with them, more then any European club would pay him. Willian did similar with Anzi, said he had not regrets and that he made lots of money for his family.

    Yep! Money talks.

But there is a point at which commercialism jumps the shark, not to mention putting yet more pressure on parents.

I still cant fathom not selling Oscar, for that money it was an insane decision by the club.

Never in his life time will he be valued at more by anyone, should have sold him and re-invested in the summer for an upgrade of which there is many, many alternatives.

I like him as a player but hes the literal defintion, for me anyway, of inconsistency, how many times has he had a good or great game and then struggled for the next half a dozen games?

There comes a point when you have to say enough is enough, hes far from been our worse performer this season but that price tag was crazy and someone should have taken every last penny for him.

When does the Chinese window close ? Maybe there is still a chance he could be sold.

Theres so much that went on this season I just cant see a way back for him and I fully expect him to be sold in the summer as he'll want out.

He said he had no interest in coming here if we hadnt won the UCL so whats his motivation going to be if we hire a poor manager and he judges that the club is going nowhere, he'll be off to Paris or Madrid and best of luck to him.

If Hazard and Cesc have both distanced themselves from the fall out of Joses sacking publicly, it leaves two candidates, Costa and Mikel. Would Jose be booted out on the back of what Mikel and Costa were moaning about, Mikel has been bitching about it everytime a mic has been shoved in front of him and Costa well we seen what he was like a few games before Jose was sacked and his gola output has doubled in the weeks hes gone.

Utds record at the Bridge is pretty terrible, theyve 1 win in the last 10 back in 2012/13.

If history is on our side we might nick 3 points.

Even if we accepted Oscar bid there is a good chance he won't go, he may not want to play in China and move his wife and kids there.

In communist China he has no say in the matter.

Also, for about 300k a week I'd make them walk to China.

Play for 2 years and he never has to worry about money ever again, not that he should anyway.

I'd be happy with us beating Utd at this stage and not worrying about teams out of our reach and level. :o

In fairness what difference is an extra 150k? Not every player is motivated purely by and whatever way it affects us or doesn't it speaks well for his character.

Sad to see a player like Texeira go over there tbh

I'm open to correctin but I dont think hes on over 100k with us. I also dont think hes good enough either, hes had 4 years here and its been said he'll be excellent after a rest from WC, Copa America and Olympic duty but all hes done is flatter to deceive, hes not shown any consistent run of form to suggest hes worth keeping, IMO.

Someone at the club clearly reckons hes worth more or they think hes good enough to push on after 4 years of little progression. I'd have sold him and went straight to Real for Isco or Atletico for Koke and with nearly €70m in our bin, we'd be well able to afford either if they were willing to come, which would be key.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Just on OScar, I think De Bruyne hit the nail on the head with the valuation, had De Bruyne cost 20m and Oscar about 8m, Oscar would have been sold long ago.

Funny you mention Isco who is as inconsistent as him and is the main reason he can't get into the team, replacing Oscar with him would be like for like.

I would've went for Texeira tbh, we lack goals from attacking midfield and he brings them.

Koke is more of a CM, I'd definitely sign him but he'd take Fabregas role more likely.

Isco, IMO, is more talented as a #10. Oscar, for me anywya, isnt a oure #10, he should be deployed as a CM next to a CDM but Cesc is better than him there. Hes not good enough on the wing either so we cant play him there.

Hes a very good all rounder without standing out, I know for Brazil he operates deeper and usually has joy but nobody has tried him there in the EPL even though I reckon he'd be able to do a job.

I agree on Koke, he'd be a dream signing, well him or Verratti for CM but I'd nearly prefer to replace Matic at this rate or go 3 in the middle and give a RLC a run in there too.

I would never compare our form this year on the pedigree of seasons before. How many teams have not won at the bridge until this season?

We play Leicester on the last day of the season.

Would people be OK with letting them win if it denied Arsenal the title?

Playing you guys is the fixture,I look forward to the least. Our record against you in the PL is awful.

I think you're the side whose beaten us the most in the PL era. I'm never confident of beating you guys at OT and I hold out little hope when we go to SB of every coming away with 3 points.

    I'm going 2-1 Chelsea.

Looks like Morata could be available in the summer with Madrid rumoured to be activating his 32m clause to sell him on for a higher fee. Probably a ridiculous rumour but if he's available we should be in for him

One player I never got the hype for

Did play for well for Juve in the latter stages of the CL iirc

Costa seems to have recovered, Pato could come good, and Solanke should be something yet, lot of positions need upgrading before striker

    You may be right.

The worst of it is, though, that our supposed key players only seem to be delivering in the bigger matches.

A cynic might say they're keeping themselves in the shop window. An optimist might say that's our only hope of UCL success.

Team v Man Utd: Courtois; Ivanovic, Zouma, Terry (c), Azpi; Mikel, Matic; Willian, Fabregas, Oscar; Diego Costa.
Subs v Man Utd: Begovic, Baba, Cahill, Loftus-Cheek, Pedro, Traore, Hazard. #CFC

Hazard on the bench, is Guus taking the piss!!
