Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Why is Can using that foot to clear it across goal? Well taken from Lukaku.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

I've been saying for months, Can at the back post for a cross is a disaster

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,319 ✭✭✭emo72

Emre is not a centre half. Wouldn't blame him for that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,928 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Rodgers is going to destroy Can as a player.

If that's Can in a back 3 or 5, he absolutely will get the mickey taken out of him. He's due an absolute, out-and-out humiliation at centre-half.

When will that clown of a manager stop pretending that Can is a centre back?

How stupid is it to try and clear the ball across goal

And that's the reason you should have a natural CB in the back three. We have two available ffs

    I hate our defence.

you'd almost think can isn't a center back

If Rodgers does get sacked, then Can at CB is the nail that broke the back of the camel's coffin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,546 ✭✭✭✭murpho999

I am screaming at the tv here with that.

How can a professional footballer think that that is how you clear a ball, kicking at across goal with an opponent in the area. Totally shocking.

Emre ****ing Can, an absolute disgrace. Clear the ball with your right foot.

We were in complete control until then.

    Enjoyable half of football.

Only Liverpool would make a German international look like Djimi Traore.

Can bottles a simple clearance - blame the manager!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,337 ✭✭✭✭monkey9

Especially with Can already on a yellow, i'd even bring Gomez on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,496 ✭✭✭quarryman

Justice really. Everton have ran the show and deserve to be winning. Ings goal shouldn't have been given, sneaky push on the defender.

Everton look much more up for it. 3-1 is my prediction.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

I just hope Rodgers goes before he entirely destroys Can as a footballer. He can still be a great midfielder if a decent manager gets hold of him.

Can's body was pretty much as you'd expect it as a box to box midfielder, not as a central defender.

    Anyway great game.

Not really, Can seems to be doing a good job himself. He can't do a basic thing like clear a ball out of the box without giving the ball to your opponent.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

That's worse than when Riise headed into his own net, nearly. While I hate Can at CB because of his absolute inability to defend crosses at the back post, you cannot excuse that.

    Dreadful stuff.

He's a professional footballer, kick the ball away. How do midfielders do that game in game out from corners?

No, blame the manager who can't see his obvious limitations and chose him over two natural CB's.

This is the 6th game in a row that Liverpool have taken the lead, but we've only won 1 of the previous 5.

You can't totally absolve Can from blame there, even when we all know he's a liability in that situation. That is rudimentary stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,397 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

Would be a different game with the ref not bottling it. Should have had a peno, and Barkley wouldn't be on the pitch.

A holding midfielder which is thought to be his best position(think is a better CM) should be easily clear that ball. Very poor.

You can not play him there because he's a liability.

If he's not ready to play then he shouldn't be playing.

The reality is that he's not good enough for Midfield - even one as tepid as ours.
He's too stupid, too reckless and too ill-disciplined.

He has a lot of growing up to do.
Technically and physically he's pretty much the finished article. Just needs to get his head screwed on properly.

We don't have the players for a back 3/5. Just play a back 4 and roll with it.

We've got the players to do it, especially if Henderson is fit. In the mean time, Lallana or Allen can deputise.

Carragher blaming Howard for Ings' goal. "Local lad" Barkley let's the ball fly over his head and there's nothing said.

    Laughable.

You are right Can must take the blame of course for every mistake he makes while playing on the pitch.

The thing is everyone can see he isn't a CB and shouldn't be playing as a CB except the person who matters the manager who keeps picking him to play there.

So the major blame must lie with the manager who keeps playing a player out of position.

    Ha!

You genuinely don't think Everton completely controlled the pace of the half?

Liverpool spent most of it on the backfoot and needed a set piece to score a (questionable) goal.

Lads making a very good point with regards to Moreno not getting close enough on that cross in for Everton.

Carragher is right to criticise Howard, he should have taken command of the situation and cleaned Barkley and Ings in a bid to get the ball - instead, he stood there like a deer in the headlights and soiled his pants

Liverpool have had the better of it and are a little unlucky not to be leading.

    Two soft goals.

True, was thinking that myself watching the game. I think Moreno is a LB playing as a wing back, he's not sure how to play the role.

I know someone will tell me that Rodgers can't compensate for Can having that brain fart, therefore he can't be blamed.

    Well, actually you can.

These issues have been there since he's been at the club. Nothing has ever gotten better.
