Was everyone flung onto a new mobile site this evening or is it just me?

I couldn't load the fullfat site on Firefox on my tablet this evening- it insisted on loading the mobile site. This morning, its the same on my tablet, but I have the full site on a laptop.

Last couple of days cannot get to the last page of one particular thread --> http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057536595&page=26 (page 26 is the last atm, but there was the same issue earlier when that thread had less posts/pages)

Think that happens when a post was deleted and the number of pages in the thread should have gone down by one but didn't. When someone else posts on the thread then you will be able to get to the last page again.

Whats the status of boards' own image host? I find load times horrendous from that server/CDN. Experienced users all use 3rd party hosts like Imgur but newbies often use the boards host which is a pain.

You mean attaching pictures? No problems for me. Nothing worse than finding an interesting thread from six months ago (e.g. in Motors or DIY where you want to see how a job is done) and none of the third party image hosting links still work. Attachments don't suffer from link rot (or link re-use as something else entirely, even porn!!)

Is boards having issues with Opera? i'm just getting:

    www.boards.ie page isn’t working
www.boards.ie redirected you too many times.

I've already clear cookies to no avail. No problems on Chrome, Mozilla or Android.

Cloudflare DDOS confirmation that I am not a robot- when on Firefox on my mobile phone- however, its working fine on my laptop. Its one of those generic 'I am not a robot' boxes that you tick. It seems to think I am one

    Hi all,

Playing catchup now, so sorry for the delay.

As a workaround to Imgur and the likes, you could try the Responsive Site, which allows for uploads from your computer.

Can you try using Incognito mode if you run into issues like this and see if that helps?

    Thanks Mark, that works.

(FYI i also disabled any extensions on the ordinary Opera and it made no difference.)

Tried sending a PM earlier and got one of these "captcha" pages followed by a blank page. Done it twice in FF (version 50.1.0) and twice in IE 11 (version 11.0.9600.18537). I'll clear the cache and reboot to see if that helps.

    Hey muffler,

Unfortunately it comes down to your location and IP - as you're in the land of the brave, you will be subject to Captcha checks. As for why there's a blank page popping up after, that's something I'll have to ask around about.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,764 ✭✭✭my3cents

I noticed that the torrent site I use now uses Cloudflare (is that ironic?), how do they manage to provide a world wide service without the need for captha checks?

How can a bunch of pirates manage to make Cloudflare work for them when boards.ie can't?

I can post, start a new thread etc but this captcha thing only happens when Im sending a PM. Why is that?

Seemingly there are a variety of checks that Cloudflare makes when determining if a request should be made or not. It could boil down to the actual content of the message or you might just be unlucky :/

It's the latter. Story of my life :(

Hopefully nothing breaks, but some changes are being made so there might be the odd error for the next little while.

Something I only noticed this morning - I posted in the Photography forum in the sub forum, Cameras & Accessories, but when looking at "My Forums" the thread didn't show to have had any update. But it did show as being posted on the "latest posts" tab.
Shouldn't posts within the forum including sub forums show up on the my forum page? Maybe this has been covered before.

They're treated as different forums, as some would get too unwieldy for the Follow feature to work effectively if it covered all subforums too - take Television, for example.

Unfortunately you will also have to follow this sub forum to see updates in the My Forums tab. Also, that thread should appear under the My Threads tab, which is useful if it's the only thread of the sub forum that you're interested in.

That's understandable. Yes some forums have many sub forums. No worries, I'll follow the ones I need separately. Thanks

    Evening all,

So unfortunately two of our webnodes have gone TITSUP this evening. Working on getting them back online but for the moment you may receive a few errors, primarily with signing in and the responsive site. Legacy site should (hopefully) be largely unaffected.

Just to update on the situation above - we should be returning to normality now. Things might be a little slow for a time while everything settles down. Apologies for the inconvenience.

    TITSUP

That's Total Inability To Support Usual Performance, lest anyone think it's rude ;)

Apologies - we were patching an important bug this morning which resulted in a lot of services being restarted. Should be back to stability now.

    Hi there,

What error message are you getting? And it's from the login screen?

Also, what OS and browser are you using?
