    Is a 2-2 draw better then a 1-1 draw?

    According to Wiki a 2-2 draw sees us through??

    If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following tie-breaking criteria are applied:[10]

    Higher number of points obtained in the matches played among the teams in question;
    Superior goal difference in matches played among the teams in question;
    Higher number of goals scored in the matches played among the teams in question;
    Higher number of goals scored away from home in the matches played among the teams in question;

    The draw there was a terrible result in the end.

    It's not though.

    Still would have needed a result to get 2nd.

    Who would of thought we would be only 1 point behind Germany going into the final game?

    Delighted!

    Gutted I decided against going to the game though when I had the chance, but fair play. Pity Poland got the late equaliser, but still a great position to be in compared to where we were in June after the Scotland game.

    First time I've seen him play a full match but I thought Christie was outstanding.Best player on the field.

    It is. A draw would have done us in Poland now a win is more than likely needed.

    Still cant believe it

    Guaranteed at least a playoff place if we won right?

    Scotland can't catch us.

    Pessimistic view, more likely to go through automatically if Scotland beat Poland!

    Yep a 2-2 draw see us through.. We can defo do it after tonights result but at least we guaranteed a play off play e which most of us would have settled for at the start of campaign

    Yup. 2 away goals. Head to head comes into play and given the game in Lansdowne finished 1-1, a 2-2 draw would give us a better head to head over Poland.

    We have finally put an end to that run of not beating a team ranked above us.

    Win or a 2-2 or higher draw and we're through anything else and its the playoffs

    Imagine the reaction in Hampden when they're 2-1 up and then hear that we've taken the lead against Germany. :pac:

    I think so. Just noticed that that puts them ahead. We need to win there to get automatic qualification.

    Couldn't believe George Hamilton saying it was great news in Hamden when Poland equalised, I know we still could have dropped points but as IT STOOD beforehand all we needed in Poland was a draw but now we need a win.
    Still, great result.

    You have to feel sorry for the Scots. From BBC:

    BBC Scotland reporter Chick Young at Hampden
    Posted at 21:44

    "Every fan leaving the ground will feel the same. The heart and soul has been ripped from us. This was going to be my final campaign. That's the tin hat on that now. I feel absolutely torn apart and shattered. I won't sleep tonight. People will wonder how on earth that happened. It's always us."

    I'd Scotland won. A draw against Poland would have been enough for automatic qualification.
