    Hi all,
THis is just a question out of curiosity. Recently I was making my way from Torc waterfall to the base of Mangerton following the forest trail path. On the route, I noticed there was a very big, modern and lavish house off to the right. It certainly isn't a hotel or a landmark home of any sort so I was very curious as to what it is or who may own it. It seems to be in a very remote area.

Any info as to the house I am talking about?

Thank you, I think that is probably the house yes. There seems to be little info or pics online about it (as you might expect). I just thought it was a interesting place for a house of that size

I think there had been a smaller house on that site for many, many years.

At some point, the larger one was built there replacing it, I'm not sure if it was by Bill Cullen & Jackie Lavin who built that larger one or if they bought it after it had been built.

Killegy house. The bould Bill and Jackie's poor little hovel which they bought for a few penny apples http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/news/the-luxury-retreat-jackie-lavin-calls-home-30427156.html

Incidentally, I didn't think you were allowed build in the national park. I wonder what sort of hoops they had to jump through to get planning permission for that?

I don't think it's actually in the National Park. It is on private land which adjoins the Park.

Yes, you're right. I think the house is in that small finger of land that doesn't fall into the park in column 97, row 84

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the house had once been part of the Vincent lands but was sold/gifted to someone at one stage by them.

I vaguely remember hearing/reading that it did have some connection with the estate at some stage back.
