I've been reading on twitter that the Northern Lights are clearly visible tonight in the UK, anybody had any luck spotting them in Ireland? I live in Wexford by the coast so I should have a good chance.

I went to Iceland earlier this year just to see them but it was too cloudy every night I was there, so I'll be doubly annoyed if I miss them again because of cloud cover :o

There's a pale band of light over the northern horizon here in Achill. No streamers yet.

Too misty now to even see the stars where I am now. Feck.

A few faint streamers are starting now.

Streamers arent reaching as high as they did in march but there is more activity within the band itself. No colours, just white.

I took this pic from The Vee co Tipp last night, 1 am. There must have been better shots before or after, but I couldn't stay long as I had work in the morning.

There is a chance of aurora being visible tomorrow, 02/11/2015. See Space Weather Prediction Center 3 day forecast.

Holy sh1t!! Theirs actually an App for telling ya!!!

There's a few to choose from.

I was checking sites there to see what are the changes of seeing it where I am and just thought I'd check if there was.

Tomorrow Night has a possible KP number of 7 (out of 9) = big magnetic storm, if like me you haven't a clue what a kp is...
    What do Kp numbers mean?

The Kp number is a system of measuring aurora strength. It goes from 0 to 9 (0 being very weak, 9 being a major geomagnetic storm with strong auroras visible).

So when your looking at the aurora forecast page, you want to see high Kp numbers. The higher the better. Anything above (and including) Kp5 is classed as a geomagnetic storm.

    Did you know?
The abbreviation Kp comes from the German "Planetarische Kennziffer". Although it is better known in English as the planetary index.

    Learn something every day.

Here's a realtime map showing where Aurora may be visible, you want oranges and reds, green no good. It may not embed right so here.

Very heavy for over east Dublin for the past two nights so won't see a tap here. No wind to shift it either, very strange weather.

Thermonuclear Art Space Porn – The Sun In Ultra-HD (4K)
    Published on Nov 1, 2015
It’s always shining, always ablaze with light and energy. In the ubiquity of solar output, Earth swims in an endless tide of particles. Every time half of the Earth faces the Sun, we experience the brightness of daytime, the Sun’s energy and light driving weather, biology and more. But in space, NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) keeps an eye on our nearest star 24/7. SDO captures images of the Sun in 10 different wavelengths, each of which helps highlight a different temperature of solar material. In this video we experience images of the Sun in unprecedented detail captured by SDO. Presented in ultra-high definition video (4K) the video presents the nuclear fire of our life-giving star in intimate detail, offering new perspective into our own relationships with grand forces of the solar system.
