    Hi,

So you guys are supposed to provide wifi for Johns Ward in Crumlin Children's Hospital but nobody seems to be able to log on.

    Please sort it out.

Oh and don't ask me to to ring any Eircom number as I'm not a customer, I'm just an unlucky parent.

All hospitals have IT departments which are responsible for all internal networks, WiFi included.
The IT department of the above hospital can be reached at 01-409 6283

    Hi Luis21

I would second 65535 advice on this matter. This will need to be logged by the hospital themselves.

    Thanks
    Al

    Well I rang that number:

IT Dept  :"There is no actual WI-FI in the hospital".

Me :"Oh there is, its available in St.Johns Ward, its an Eircom hub"

IT Dept : "You'll have to contact Parents Accomodation about that"

Me :"Why? its in reference to the Ward, its nothing to with them"

IT Dept : "it must be a local thing just for Johns Ward"

    Me:"Its in Michaels Ward aswell"

    IT Dept "Oh".

So after failing to fob me off it appears the IT dept dont really have their finger on the pulse. So its back over to to you Eir. Can you send the passwords for this ever so mysterious WI-FI Hub that nobody seems to want to take responsibility for ?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I'm sorry Luis21 but you are requesting information which is protected by security protocol and industry regulations. I understand the circumstances are of course more sensitive and I can assure you that I wish I could assist but that will not be possible.

It could just be a direct line connected up in that ward.
Find the Access point/Eircom unit and the WiFi password should be on the back - similar to a domestic setup.
It is unusual that the IT department do not have a handle on what is going on there.
It might have been added without their knowledge.

The fact the IT dept doesn't know about is not surprising. The disconnect between areas in the hospital is nothing short of disgraceful.

Alan, the passwords are provided by Eircom as per the terms and conditions of the content form. The form states the passwords , note passwords, will be changed regularly. It's not a password written on the bottom of a router, it one of a list that provided by Eircom.

Your inability to sort this matter out is quite astounding. It's an Eircom hub, Eircom provide the passwords. The passwords aren't getting provided so the kids in the Cancer Ward don't have wifi and you don't seem to be bothered about that.

Ask your line manager if maybe, just maybe, someone should look into fixing this instead of constantly trying to pass the buck.

    Hi Luis21

I have contacted Crumlin hospital (St.Johns ward) and spoke to the Play specialist who has advised me that they too, also agree that they do not want the WiFi password supplied as a consent form will need to be filled in.

In my conversation the specialist also advised me that they did not have codes for the past few weeks however this has now been resolved this morning - if you go to the nurses station they will supply you with a consent form and a WiFi Password.

I am sorry If I can across in anyway unwilling to assist you Luis21 - I could not give you the passwords as the hospital are the account holders and I (and ultimately eir support) cannot give out their password except to authorised personnel.

I genuinely could not supply passwords without breaking data protection regulations which I am bound by. I hope this serves helpful and I wish both you and your child the very best.

    Thank you

    Al

For the record I never asked for a password. I asked for the hospital to be given the passwords. They run out all the time because of the turnaround of patients. Maybe they should last longer than a month as most childrens treatment lasts at least a year?

Thanks for getting in touch with them about this although the fact a play specialist is in charge of this rather than the IT dept just beggers belief.

    Regards.

    I'm glad I could somewhat assist Luis21

I would recommend raising any such issues involving their practices with the hospital to prevent future difficulties
