That's a strange approach not having prices alright! I'd imagine he's losing business over it.

Obvious that the people behind this cafe are keeping this thread going for a bit of free advertising!!!

    I would think not.
Most of the comments are about how badly organised the whole setup is.
You could argue that no publicity is bad publicity but I don't think any business would enjoy the criticism Masseytown has endured here.

Who, here, do you think is behind the cafe?

    Anything else happening out there?

Doesn't affect me greatly as I'm mainly online with my banking but definitely feel for elderly and self employed

New cafe going in across the road from the Mercy Hospital/Tyndall Institute. Used to be a shop pre-CV19.

Think they're allowing banking in post offices as part of the closures

Masseytown. Paul Street. Where bracken's was.

I popped in there last week, had the pork and it was awesome.
I'd echo what people said about prices and the owner talking to friends, I imagine (hope) it will get better as they go on though.

Just to keep the masseytown saga going.
    I went today.
beer, you will be pleased to know I asked why they dont have the prices up. Specifically said "god ye must be sick of getting asked the same question no? :pac: "
All i got was yeaaaaaah i dunno why we dont, i must say it to him.

As far as the food goes...in hindsight I should not have gotten the pork because its porchetta and I hate fat.so that kinda ruined it for me.
That being said everything else the bread and fillings were nice. Its €8 if you want it hot by the way. 7.50 for pre prepared

It is handy where it is, park in paul st and be out before ya have to pay for parking but i don't think I'll be making it a regular thing to be honest.

Do you know if all the sandwich options are priced the same?

I thought the unique selling point / concept was that he carves up the freshly cooked meat there and then in front of your eyes etc etc etc

""We are going to be serving fresh sandwiches with free range meats so chicken, pork etc and the concept is I pull the chicken out of the oven, slice it up in front of you and put it in to the sandwich."

That option is there as I understand it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,155 ✭✭✭✭sammyjo90

Yup the hot and freshly made option is there. And for people who don't want to wait you can take one from the chiller. Its open plan but not exactly made in front of your eyes

All of them are the same price point. For freshly made ones you could customise them I'd say( as you should be able to with anything freshly prepared imo), i didnt ask though.

Thought we'd reached peak coffee kiosk but seems not. I spotted what looked like a new one in the cricket club on the Mardyke earlier today.

Not terribly new but we got 2 ice lollies from Popsicle on Castle Street.
They are seriously good. Had a mojito one and a matcha tea one.
Might seem a little pricy at €3 a pop.
They're not terribly big but I think well worth the price for a little treat and not overly sweet.
    Will definitely be having more.

    Progress!
That's a big improvement on the previous board.
I wonder how long he'll hold out on the pricing?
I'd also love to know the reasoning behind it.
I'm sure it puts more people than me off!

If you have to ask the price, you can't afford the sandwich.

    The Masseytown saga continues.

Two menu boards - one with some prices, the other without.

Not sure why they uploaded sideways.

I thought someone posted here about them selling “half cooked chickens” or am I imagining it? The implication was that the poster or their friend understood it to be a chicken cooked halfway. Evidently that’s not the case. It’s fully cooked, you just get half of the bird.

Presume they meant that 'half a cooked chicken' was an option to purchase.

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,953 ✭✭✭✭the beer revolu

The cooked chickens board with prices has been there since last week. I wonder why they think putting prices on that board is a good idea?
I'm just waiting for the day they give in and price the sandwiches!

That surely wouldn't be allowed on food safety grounds

    It's not.

It's one half of a cooked chicken.

Similarly, it is one quarter of a cooked chicken.

Not poultry that is half way / a quarter of the way cooked.
