I'd say it's probably going in next to the new Homestore and More. There is a Cafe unit there.

Where exactly near Woodies is the New Homestore going?

It's in a newly built unit behind Blackwater Motors. They are also building another unit for DID Electrical.

There is more information here: http://www.irishexaminer.com/property/doors-opening-in-new-phase-of-cork-retail-warehousing-441743.html

It's also showing Dixons next to Hickeys.

I wonder why the rebranding - has the centre new owners?

I'm surprised to see Dixons on there, seeing how it closed about 8 years ago...

Bunsen is looking for full-time wait staff for a new Cork city location

    https://ie.indeed.com/cmp/Bunsen/jobs/Front-House-Wait-Staff-debc0dfd3aa884eb

Should give Coqbull and Son of a Bun a run for their money.

I'm guessing it could be going in the restaurant unit currently being refitted next to Coqbull on French Church Street.

Looks like Iceland supermarket are opening a store in Douglas as they are advertising for manager positions. They've opened quite a few stores around the country recently (Tralee, Midleton, Dublin etc)

Iceland can have good offers at times on frozen food and sometimes other grocery items such as breakfast cereals can be great value!

Looks like lots of chains from overseas are opening up. Maybe it's a good sign of our economy. Not sure Iceland would be one of the ones I would be longing to see open here though.

Burger King to open at the Applegreen filling station in Hollyhill. Seeking managers.

One of the biggest issues with fast food outlets opening is the litter generated in the area. I really believe that all such businesses need to employ somebody to do a clean up every night/morning of the vicinity for any/all litter generated in the surrounding area, by their outlet

I think it might have already been posted here about Starbucks opening in Ballincollig but they've started recruiting for there now. I believe this will be Cork's 9th Starbucks in barely 3 years in the city. That is some expansion!!!

    Mahon Point
    City Gate
    Douglas
    Blackpool
    Albert Quay
    Opera Lane
    Princes St
    Patrick St
    And now Ballincollig!!!

For a change, they actually got the planning permission in advance this time it seems...

Kingsley is planning to increase its number of bedrooms I noticed earlier. It's some ugly building I have to say but think the council just gave up on that area of the city with the design of the stuff they allowed to be built there.

Speaking hotels, does anyone know what is happening with the hotel at the end of the South Mall by the bus stops?

I think it's a fine building. Very handy meeting place for anyone on the western city and county side.
Light meals are good and very reasonable too.

Guess we can agree to disagree :) I see this view most days running in the straight road & think it's ugly as sin!

Bought by the Dalata Hotel Group last year for €10.2m. Not much movement since then.

Planning permission applied recently to add more bedrooms and reconfigure entrance via South Mall and include retail use on Parnell place.

West Cork now in Washington St, ha. The people in Allihies, over 100 miles away would be amused.

This has been on the cards for a long time. The hotel seems to be doing really well and was missed when it was out of commission. Looks like the buyer got it for a song (I heard €6M) and we, the taxpayers, are probably picking up the NAMA bill.

Does anyone know if construction has started on the new office space at Camden Place?

McDonald's are apply for permission to build a 2 storey drive through in the small car park in Wilton to the left as you enter from the sarsfield road. The only thing is they're using the whole car park so people will have to park in the Tesco car park. With the lidl seemingly going ahead, it's goin to be way busier in Wilton.

The area right next to the road? That's tiny! They'd have to reroute traffic through the existing spaces to accommodate it and loose what are already a limited number of spaces.
