I like the upgraded Dunnes in Bishopstown, I think theres a few in Dublin that got similar upgrades with dedicated butchers and the like.

Brings a bit more class to it but also a bit more €€€€.

I second that, updated Ballyvolane Dunnes, even if not yet finished, looks so much more fancy compared to the run in the ground place that it was before.

Not a new business opening but I see that Penney's on Patrick Street has extended its opening hours until 7pm during the week.

Would like to see more businesses open slightly later during the week as that part of town can go very dead very quickly when the shops shut.

Even if some of the shops adjusted there time from 9-6 to 10-7 instead, it'd be great.

I got two sirloin steaks in the James Whelan butcher, I'd usually go to a butcher for cuts of meat and not fond of buying of the shelf from supermarkets but said I'd give them a try.

The butcher section was pretty busy too with a few people picking up the sausages too.

If the quality was better, I'd have no problem spending it on more "specialised" food thats seemingly prepared right there in front of you.

Really excited about the "new" Dunnes in Ballyvolane as it's been our local supermarket for years so it's nice to see it finally getting some tlc. The staff are lovely too and a lot of them have been working there for years, so I think they deserve a nice new work environment also. I think it was meant to have been all finished last weekend but they are behind as far as I know; same with the Bishopstown store.

I always felt Kildare Village was kind of s**te TBH.

If I'm going up to or from Dublin I'll pop in for a look if I'm not under time constraints but I've not spent a penny in there in 3 visits.

I find it very underwhelming up there if I'm honest and if its the winter, its a pain in the arse going around shop to shop.

The convenience of somewhere like Dundrum or to a considerably lesser extent, Mahon Point, where its all under one roof, suits Ireland better, IMO.

For level 10 underwhelming, Rathdowney was where its at. (Is it even open anymore)
    What a grim, soulkess kip

Kildare Village never did much for me. It was a little like a cross between TKMaxx and end of season sales. The lights there at Christmas were nice tough.
Rathdowney was a disaster tough. It was a bit far from everywhere.
It still has Dunnes and a and Mr Price opened there last year.

Christmas on ice is back at Mahon from the 2nd November.

Carraig Donn is opening in Merchants Quay in late November!

Is this Constance Cassidy BL of Lissadell House representing them? She wouldn't come cheap.

So the holding company of Reardens (KMont) has objected to the opening of Dwyers (Moscato) of which one individual was a director or of both companies and now is only a director of one, KMont....I would love the inside story there.

Now, the Venue music venue on Hanover St. (owned by same), has suddenly closed. Gig scheduled for tomorrow has been moved to Crane Lane, and upcoming gigs have had ticket sales stopped.

    Crazy stuff.

Pat Buckley's (Miss Pat's), John Redmond Street, has reopened as Maureen's.
Dennis Cotter of Café Paradiso and his partner are behind it.

The Perfume Shop has closed down in Mahon Point.

Looks like there is work going on already for new tenants

Does anybkdy know what the new tenants are going to be in the Centre? Also heard rumours of Smiggle moving.
    I know Villa is one.

Vila, Vera Moda are getting stand alone stores. I think a childrens clothes shop also. Jack and Jones are moving across into one of the new spaces.

The Perfume Shop is only closed for renovations.

That’s right, they had signs up saying they’d be closing for refurbishment. Hopefully won’t be too long, I’m sure they do a roaring trade for Christmas

I heard rumblings of TK Maxx going into the large unit upstairs in Mahon Point

Still would be quite a small tk maxx I know the units are fairly large but it will end up like the dougles a shop full of Notting.

While the city if you are lucky you can get bargains.

The only thing I would wish for is for a mens gold label area in town as you can get past season high end designer stock for next to Notting.

I can't think where this would fit in Mahon to be honest.

There's a fairly substantial unit upstairs (I think it's where Pamela Scott's used to be). Otherwise, maybe Debenhams will downsize, due to their latest sales figures?

Apparently Villa, Jack & Jones are going into those units.
I don't know about Debenhams but it would take a while for that to happen.
